Advanced Programs

The Diamond Lake School District Advanced Program offers students an opportunity for accelerated and enriched learning experiences unique to individual student learning and behavioral talents. The program utilizes highly qualified teachers in the area of gifted education to promote differentiated learning experiences that foster autonomy, mastery and student interests.

Student Identification and Program Designs

Students are identified for the Accelerated Program utilizing triangulated assessment data:

  • MAP Assessment (Measures of Academic Progress)

  • CogAT (Cognitive Abilities Test)

  • State Assessments

  • AIMSWeb

  • Teacher Assessments

The Advanced Program will offer students weekly support services at approximately 150-250 minutes per week. Student learning experiences will be uniquely crafted to allow students to explore topics and content which are challenging and academically advanced. The Advanced Program will seek to draw on the individual interests of each child while allowing them to work both independently and creatively toward their individual goals.

Diamond Lake School District 76 recognizes the importance of providing differentiated learning experiences to all students and, in doing so, provides modified learning experiences to students who are ready to be for a more rigorous curriculum. Examples of the advanced differentiated learning may include:

  • Compacting

  • Projects Based Learning

  • Problems Based Learning

  • Enrichment Learning

  • Student Choice Menus

  • Accelerated Learning
