Department Summary

  • The department provides leadership for districtwide technology planning, implementation, support, and continuous improvement. This includes oversight of network systems, devices, software platforms, classroom technology, student information systems, and other digital tools that support teaching, learning, and district operations.

  • The department works to protect district systems, student information, staff data, and instructional resources through secure technology practices. This includes supporting cybersecurity awareness, responsible technology use, data privacy, account security, and safe access to digital learning environments.

  • The department supports teachers and staff in the meaningful integration of instructional technology. Through coaching, collaboration, and professional learning, the department helps staff use digital tools to enhance instruction, personalize learning, improve student engagement, and support 21st century skills.

  • The department coordinates professional development related to educational technology, digital communication, cybersecurity awareness, instructional platforms, productivity tools, and emerging technologies. These efforts are designed to build staff capacity and ensure that technology is used effectively, responsibly, and confidently across the district.

  • The department manages districtwide communication systems and digital platforms, including the district website, social media, mass notification tools, newsletters, and other communication channels. The goal is to provide clear, timely, accurate, and accessible information to families, staff, students, and community members.

  • The department supports the district’s public presence by promoting consistent messaging, professional branding, positive storytelling, and transparent communication. This includes highlighting student success, staff accomplishments, school events, district initiatives, and the ongoing work of Diamond Lake School District 76.

  • The department supports district leadership in the planning and delivery of crisis communication. This includes helping ensure that families, staff, and the community receive accurate, timely, and coordinated information during urgent situations, school disruptions, safety events, or other critical incidents.

  • The department works to support equitable access to technology, digital resources, and communication tools for all students, families, and staff. This includes helping reduce barriers to participation, supporting accessible communication practices, and ensuring that technology resources are aligned with the needs of the district community.

  • The department leads and supports districtwide technology and communication committees to promote collaboration, shared decision making, and alignment with district priorities. This work includes partnering with administrators, teachers, support staff, families, and community stakeholders to strengthen technology systems and communication practices.

  • The department monitors emerging trends in educational technology, communication, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital learning. Through thoughtful planning and responsible implementation, the department helps prepare Diamond Lake School District 76 for future opportunities while maintaining a strong focus on safety, reliability, student learning, and community trust.
