This was a short and productive week! Learning and growth is happening each day. Students are earning PAWSOME cards for exemplifying SPARKLE ON Traits and for PBIS Traits. West Oak Intermediate continues to be a place filled with positivity each day. Your students are amazing and brighten all of our days, each day. As a reminder, tomorrow we do not have school. Lock Down Drill Communication
School Text Messages:
School updates are communicated regularly via email and text. Please contact the Main Office if you need to update your personal email. We also encourage families to sign up for our text messaging service which can be accessed here.
Bus Routes:
All eligible bus students have been notified of their pick up and drop off street intersections each day. Please refer to this ROUTE DOCUMENT for the times and locations of pickups and drop offs. This document can be accessed on our building website throughout the year. New to this year, 5th grade Band students will also be taking the middle school buses home in the afternoon, they will be assigned a route that coincides with their morning route. Please keep in mind that student pick up and drop off times will fluctuate the first few days of school as our drivers are still learning their routes and students are still learning our bus procedures. Families are also encouraged to opt into receiving instant notifications when delays or incidents affect their child’s bus times by creating an account with our Triversa Ride 360 app. or reach out to Lakeside Transportation (224) 433-6304.
Breakfast and Lunch:
All students in our district will be able to eat breakfast and lunch at no cost to families this year. We are working with a new food service provider this school year, and we are excited to announce that students will be able to choose between a hot and cold option each day. Below you will find a picture of the September lunch menu, which can also be found on the District Web Page.
DESSA Screener:
Starting on 9.18.23 the DESSA Screener will open. This helps us meet the needs of our students from a social and emotional lens. Your student’s teacher will be filling in a survey, and this will allow our team of educators here at WOIS to affirm their strengths as learners. We truly believe that this survey aligns with our mission to know each child by name, strength and need.

Thank you to anyone and everyone who attended and volunteered at the Back to School Bash last Friday 9/8/23. This upcoming week, the PTO will be hosting a Dine Out Night on 9/20/23 at Culver’s on Highway 60 (townline road) in Mundelein. We hope to see you all there!

Innovation Learning:
Families looking for before and/or after school programming Innovation Learning provides these services up to five days a week. Here are the flyers in English/Spanish for more information.
Need Groceries?:
Households with kids and teens (18 or under) are invited to receive free groceries at the West Oak Middle School parking lot on August 17th from 5-6:30pm. Summer Family Market distributions use a contactless drive-thru model with pre-packed groceries. No registration, ID, or documentation is needed. Food is distributed on a first-come first-served basis, while supplies last.

Comunicación de taladro de bloqueo de
Rutas de Autobus
Todos los estudiantes de autobuses elegibles han sido notificados de su recogida y entrega en las intersecciones de las calles todos los días. Consulte este DOCUMENTO DE RUTA para conocer los horarios y lugares de recogida y entrega. Se puede acceder a este documento en nuestro sitio web durante todo el año. Como novedad en este año, los estudiantes de Banda de 5º grado también tomarán los autobuses de la escuela secundaria a casa por la tarde, se les asignará una ruta que coincide con su ruta de la mañana. Por favor, tenga en cuenta que los horarios de recogida y entrega de los estudiantes fluctuarán los primeros días de escuela, ya que nuestros conductores todavía están aprendiendo sus rutas y los estudiantes todavía están aprendiendo nuestros procedimientos de autobús.
