September 17th: Diamond Lake School Weekly Update
Dear Diamond Lake School (DLS) Families,

We had another excellent week at DLS!  Students and staff are working hard, diving into great learning experiences, and building beautiful relationships.  As I am stepping into classrooms or walking through lunch and recess, students are engaging in great conversation with their peers and our staff.  The positive reinforcement, support, and encouragement that students are receiving from one another and from our staff creates a learning environment that students are excited to be a part of and motivates them to learn and achieve.  Each morning as I am working the car line, students are hopping off of buses and jumping out of their cars so excited to be back in school and ready to take on the day with a smile.  I also want to thank all DLS families for your support in helping students transition back to school.  The partnership between home and school creates the best foundation for students.

I also wanted to provide you with information regarding our bus system.  Lakeside Transportation created seating assignments for our students and is ensuring that each day during both pick-up and drop-off students are sitting in their assigned seat.  Assigning seats on the buses has been common practice in District 76 for the past few years in an effort to manage and monitor behavior and now to assist with contact tracing in the event a student should test positive for COVID.  Assigned seats are created based on the bus route.  For example, students that are first picked up in the morning, are assigned to seats in the back of the bus so that when students exit in the afternoon they are unloading the bus back to front.  When the school year first started, there were some changes in terms of students riding the bus and assigned routes.  Now that routes are solidified, assigned seats have been reintroduced to students and Lakeside Transportation is ensuring the safety of our students.

If you have any questions regarding the buses, please feel free to contact me.
