Early Release and Inservice Day
This Monday, 4.19 will be an early release day. Dismissal will be at 11:30am for WOIS.
Spring Assessment Schedule Update
We have several spring assessments to facilitate between now and the end of the year. Below is a list of the assessments, which students will be taking the assessment and start dates. Specific days and times for IAR, ISA and STAR will be communicated by your child’s teacher as we get closer to the start date. ACCESS and F&P are based on pull-out schedules throughout the testing window. The IAR and ISA assessments are administered to in person learners only. During those assessment times, remote students will be assigned asynchronous work. We have designed the schedule so that only part of the day is asynchronous for remote learners, and there will be a portion of live instruction each day of assessment.

Fountas & Pinnell (F&P) Reading Benchmark begins 4.12 (In Person and Remote)
Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) begins 5.3 (In Person Learners Only)

School Lunch
Hot lunch is offered to all District 76 students, free of charge. If your student would like hot lunch, it will be available each day, and you do not need to order it. If you would like to know what is being served, the Food Services web page is linked here. Just click on the drop down menu to view the monthly hot lunch menu. Curbside pick-up is from 11:00am - 1:00pm on Tuesday and Friday at the West Oak Campus.

UPDATED Bus Schedules
The WOIS Schedule will stay the same
Building procedures for student entry, dismissal, classrooms, hallway, lunch and recess will stay the same
Lunch periods will be split. Grade levels will still have lunch and recess at the same time, however, we will be dividing each grade level into two groups, one to eat first while one goes to recess first, then switching. This will allow us to keep social distancing guidelines in the lunchroom/gym with our increased numbers.
Morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up procedures will remain the same. Please see the instructions and map below.
WOIS Return to School Video
WOIS Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures Morning Drop-Off will take place between 7:50 and 8:00am each day. Please do not drop your student off before 7:50 as we will not have supervision available until 7:50. On full school days, pick-up is at 2:55pm, with early dismissal pick-up at 11:30am. All in person learning students that are being dropped off or picked up in a car will use our WOIS Main Entrance, Door #8. Please complete the full parking lot loop. See the map below for guidance

SEL Committee Updates
From the desk of the SEL Committee: Welcome to our 2nd week of April’s Mental Health Awareness theme. This week the students were taught about stress and reviewed multiple coping strategies to manage it. For parents this week, we would like to help give you multiple ways to initiate and address the subject of mental health with your child through this website by Mental Health America. We hope this will help equip you with strategies towards having these conversations with your children.
On 4/21, the SEL Committee will be offering a workshop for parents that will be presented by OMNI Behavioral Services. The Zoom link will be sent via School Messenger next week. There will be two presentations this evening with the first being in English at 6:00pm and a presentation in Spanish at 7:00pm. During this time the following topics will be discussed:
Overall mental health and wellbeing
Overview of adolescent brain development
Symptoms of stress, what’s “normal” and what might be an indication of something more serious and contributing factors
Reducing the stigma to talk about mental health issues
Signs and symptoms to look out for with your child
Who to speak to and resources for people experiencing any of these symptoms
Why it is best to address it early and not wait
Confidentiality, and what support looks like.
Happiness Advantage Update: Welcome to the 12th installment of the Happiness Advantage!. This week we will be focusing on the science of happiness. Scientists refer to happiness as a “subjective well-being,” because “there is no single meaning: happiness is relative to the person experiencing it.” In other words, the feeling of happiness is based on the individual and how they feel. Most people would associate happiness as a positive feeling, however, according to Martin Seligman, this can be broken into three, measurable components: “pleasure, engagement, and meaning.” Happiness isn’t all about positive feelings, but how you, as a human being flourish in your life. This week I want you to take some time and think about your life and what has/will make you flourish?

Este Lunes, 4.19 sera dia de salida temprana. El despido será a las 11:30 am para WOIS.
Actualización de calendario de la evaluación de Primavera
Tenemos varias evaluaciones de primavera para facilitar de aquí a finales de año. A continuación se muestra una lista de las evaluaciones y fechas de inicio que los estudiantes estarán tomando. Los días y horarios específicos para IAR, ISA y STAR serán comunicados por el maestro de su hijo(a) a medida que nos acerquemos a la fecha de inicio. ACCESS y F & P se basan en horarios de extracción en toda la ventana de pruebas. Las evaluaciones de IAR e ISA se administran únicamente a estudiantes en persona. Durante esos tiempos de evaluación, a los estudiantes remotos se les asigna trabajo asincrónico. El horario de WOIS permanecerá igual
Los procedimientos de edificio para la entrada, salida, salón, pasillo, almuerzo y recreo permanecerán igual.
Los periodos de almuerzo se dividirán. Los niveles de grado seguirán teniendo almuerzo y recreo al mismo tiempo, sin embargo, dividiremos cada grado en dos grupos, uno para comer primero y uno va a recreo primero, luego cambian. Esto nos permitirá mantener las pautas de distanciamiento social en el comedor/gimnasio con nuestros números aumentados.

Procedimientos de Dejar y Recoger WOIS Usted puede dejar a su estudiante en la mañana entre 7:50 y 8:00 cada día. Por favor no deje a su estudiante antes de las 7:50 ya que no tendremos supervisión disponible hasta las 7:50. En días completos de la escuela, el tiempo de recoger a sus hijos es 2:55pm, cuando la salida es más temprana, el tiempo para recoger a sus hijos es 11:30am. Todos los estudiantes que vendrán en persona que van a ser dejados o recogidos en un carro, usarán la puerta principal a WOIS, puerta #8. Por favor complete el circuito completo del estacionamiento. Actualización de dia de Fotos
Debido al regreso de todos los estudiantes de aprendizaje en persona el Lunes 12 de Abril, hemos modificado nuestro horario de día de foto. Tendremos un día de fotos para solamente todos los estudiantes de aprendizaje en persona el día Jueves 15 de Abril. También estaremos organizando un evento de fotos para todos los estudiantes remotos el Lunes 12 de Abril de 4pm a 8pm en el gimnasio de la secundaria West Oak. Actualizaciones del Comité SEL
Desde el escritorio del Comité SEL: Bienvenidos al tema de Conciencia de la Salud Mental de nuestra segunda semana de abril. Esta semana se les enseñó a los estudiantes sobre el estrés y se revisaron múltiples estrategias de afrontamiento para manejarlo. Para los padres de esta semana, nos gustaría brindarles varias formas de iniciar y abordar el tema de la salud mental con su hijo a través de este sitio web de Mental Health America. Esperamos que esto le ayude a equiparse con estrategias para tener estas conversaciones con sus hijos.
El 21 de abril, el Comité SEL ofrecerá un taller para padres que será presentado por OMNI Behavioral Services. El enlace de Zoom se enviará a través de School Messenger la próxima semana. Actualizaciones de las ventajas de felicidad: ¡Bienvenido a la 12th entrega de Happiness Advantage !. Esta semana nos centraremos en la ciencia de la felicidad. Los científicos se refieren a la felicidad como un "bienestar subjetivo" porque "no hay un significado único: la felicidad es relativa a la persona que la experimenta". En otras palabras, el sentimiento de felicidad se basa en el individuo y en cómo se siente. La mayoría de las personas asocian la felicidad como un sentimiento positivo; sin embargo, según Martin Seligman, esto se puede dividir en tres componentes medibles: "placer, compromiso y significado". La felicidad no se trata solo de sentimientos positivos, sino de cómo tú, como ser humano, prósperas en tu vida.
