SEL Committee Updates

In continuation of our May SEL theme of Healthy Habits, we are focusing on healthy eating this week! A balanced and nutritious diet can have many positive impacts on a child's learning. Here are a few resources for more information:

-Healthy Eating

-Kid's Healthy Eating Plate

Happiness Advantage by the SEL Committee: When things do not align with the plan we have set for ourselves, people often say that all we can do is make the most of things. This saying actually goes a longer way than we might think. While changing our mindset, making and achieving life goals, taking advantage of opportunities, and having fruitful relationships are all catalysts for a happier life, the day to day things really play an essential role. If we are committed to changing our lifestyle from a monotonous one to a more profound and happier lifestyle we cannot neglect our day to day and the riches that lie within. Throughout the day we can practice things like meditating on meaningful things, we can find something to look forward to, make conscious acts of kindness, enjoy nature, exercise, exercise one of our talents, or invest financially in joyous experiences. These things add up! I once heard a speaker say that what is more painful is death by paper cuts. This is exactly that, but in reverse. What helps us create a more joyous life is the little things that inevitably multiply. When we add happiness to our life, that overflow will spill over into those who surround us, creating a domino effect.

-Healthy Eating

-Kid's Healthy Eating Plate
