STAR Winter Report Update

STAR Winter reports were emailed home today.  We apologize for the technical error that occurred on Friday.  If you did not receive a report via email, please contact the WOIS office and we will provide you with your child’s report.

Virtual Parent-Teacher Conferences

Virtual Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, March 18th.  Please sign-up for a virtual conference via Google Meet using this online scheduling tool.  If you need assistance, please contact the WOIS office and we will be happy to assist you.

5 Essentials Student Survey, Grades 4-5

Each year, students in grades 4 & 5 participate in a student survey.  This year, students will take the survey during one (1) morning meeting period (8:00-9:00) Please read the parent information letter from Dr. Juracka for more information.  You have the option to opt your student out of the survey.  If you do not wish to have your student take the survey, please return the form on the letter to your student’s teacher, or the WOIS office.   Parent Notification Letter

School Lunch

Hot lunch is offered to all District 76 students, free of charge.  If your student would like hot lunch, it will be available each day, and you do not need to order it.  If you would like to know what is being served, the Food Services web page is linked here.  Just click on the drop down menu to view the monthly hot lunch menu.  Curbside pick-up is from 11:00am - 1:00pm on Tuesday and Friday at the West Oak Campus.

In Person Learning Begins 

In Person Learning for students in the “A” group, last names beginning A-L, will be in session on Monday and Tuesday each week.  Students in the “B” group, last names beginning with M-Z, wil be in session on Thursday and Friday each week.  Wednesday each week will be a remote learning day for all students.

Hybrid Learning: 

• Concurrent Learning and Curriculum for both in-person and remote learners

• Students will be taught by their regular classroom teachers

• Consistent Weekly Schedule for Students and Family Planning (Hybrid Calendar)

• Breakfast and hot lunch will be provided for all students at no additional cost, and no need to order at this time.

WOIS Return to School Video

WOIS Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures                                                  Morning Drop-Off will take place between 7:50 and 8:00am each day.  Please do not drop your student off before 7:50 as we will not have supervision available until 7:50.  On full school days, pick-up is at 2:55pm, with early dismissal pick-up at 11:30am.  All in person learning students that are being dropped off or picked up in a car will use our WOIS Main Entrance, Door #8.  Please complete the full parking lot loop.  See the map below for guidance

Picture Day is Coming!!

WOIS will be hosting student picture days in April.  Monday, April 12th will accommodate in person students in Group “A” and Thursday, April 15th will accommodate in person students in Group “B” during the school day.  Remote learning students will be invited to the West Oak Campus on the evening of Monday, April 12th to have pictures taken.  Details for the evening event as well as scheduling instructions will be shared soon.

New WOIS Schedule

*Flex time is designated to incorporate science, social studies, or extend math and literacy lessons.

Why a new schedule?

• The new schedule allows for consistent instruction throughout the entire school day

• This schedule is able to be followed whether or not a student is in person or remote

• If we were to have to switch between any of the formats (Remote, In Person, or Hybrid) throughout the year, the schedule will not have to change.

Bus Route Updates

In an effort to make bussing more efficient and reduce the amount of time students are on the bus, several changes were made to your student's bus route.  Students will remain at their same bus stop on their same bus route, but pick-up and drop-off times may have changed.  All changes are effective on Monday, March 1st.  To view new route times please visit the D76 transportation page.

Free and Reduced Lunch Qualification

Families who are in need of assistance are encouraged to apply for our free/reduced price meal program.  Applications can be found under the Food Service web page under "Need Assistance?"

SEL Committee Updates

The SEL Committee is excited to announce that March’s theme is Digital Safety Awareness. What a relevant topic considering the impact and importance technology has had on our lives over the past year. We will have a series of informational pieces to share throughout this month. Students will also be participating in some different activities from read-alouds to interactive games that focus on how to be safe with technology and create good habits. Digital Safety for Tweens/Teens

Happiness Advantage Update:  Welcome to the 7th installment of the Happiness Advantage!  This week's focus is on how change is possible. Change is possible through practice and we have all heard the saying, “practice makes perfect.”  Just by practicing tasks and skills we are expanding a section of our brain necessary for accomplishing tasks. The ability to expand our brain with “mere practice” shows that we aren’t just born with a fixed set of abilities based on the genes we were dealt.  We have the ability to change it just takes practice.

Actualización de Informe STAR de Invierno

Conferencias Virtuales de Padres y Maestros 

Las conferencias virtuales de padres y maestros serán el Jueves, Marzo 18. Registrarse para una conferencia virtual a través de Google Meet usando esta herramienta de programación en línea . Si necesita ayuda por favor póngase en contacto con  la oficina de WOIS estaremos feliz de ayudarle 

5 Encuesta de estudiantes de Essentials, grados 4-5

Cada año, los estudiantes de los grados 4 y 5 participan en una encuesta estudiantil. Este año, los estudiantes tomarán la encuesta durante un (1) período de reunión en la mañana (8:00-9:00) Lea la carta de información de los padres del Dr. Juracka para obtener más información. Usted tiene la opción de excluir a su estudiante de la encuesta. Si usted no desea que su estudiante tome la encuesta, por favor devuelva el formulario en la carta al maestro de su estudiante, o a la oficina de WOIS.  Carta de notificación a los padres

Almuerzo De La Escuela 

Se les ofrecerá almuerzo caliente a todos los estudiantes del distrito 76 de forma gratuita.  Si su estudiante desea almuerzo caliente, estará disponible todos los días, y usted no necesita pedirlo. Si desea saber lo que se está sirviendo, la página web de Servicio De Comida está vinculada en este  enlace .  Simplemente haga clic en el menú desplegable para ver el menú mensual de almuerzo caliente. La recogida en la acera es de 11:00am a 1:00 pm los martes y viernes en el West Oak Campus.

Aprendizaje En Persona Comienza

Aprendizaje en persona para los estudiantes del grupo "A", los apellidos que comienzan A-L, estarán en sesión los lunes y martes de cada semana. Los estudiantes del grupo "B", apellidos que comienzan con M-Z, estarán en sesión los jueves y viernes de cada semana. El miércoles de cada semana será un día de aprendizaje remoto para todos los estudiantes.

Aprendizaje híbrido

• Aprendizaje simultáneo y plan de estudios para estudiantes tanto en persona como a distancia 

• Los estudiantes serán enseñados por sus maestros regulares

• Calendario semanal consistente para estudiantes y Planificación Familiar  (Calendario Hibrido )

• Desayuno y almuerzo caliente serán proporcionados para todos los estudiantes sin costo adicional, y no hay necesidad de ordenar en este momento.

Procedimientos de Dejar y Recoger  WOIS                                                  Usted puede dejar a su estudiante en la mañana entre 7:50 y 8:00  cada día. Por favor no deje a su estudiante antes de las 7:50 ya que no tendremos supervisión disponible hasta las 7:50. En días completos de la escuela, el tiempo de recoger a sus hijos es 2:55pm, cuando  la salida es más temprana, el tiempo para recoger a sus hijos es 11:30am.  Todos los estudiantes que vendrán en persona que van a ser dejados o recogidos en un carro, usarán la puerta principal a WOIS, puerta #8.  Por favor complete el circuito completo del estacionamiento.  Ve el mapa abajo, para guiarse .  

Se acerca el día de fotos!!

WOIS organizará un día de fotos de estudiantes en abril. El lunes 12 de abril acomodaremos a los estudiantes que estén en persona en el Grupo "A" y el jueves 15 de abril acomodaremos a los estudiantes que estén en persona en el Grupo "B" durante el día escolar. Estudiantes de aprendizaje remoto   serán invitados al Campus de West Oak por la  noche el  lunes 12 de abril para que se tomen fotos. Los detalles para el evento e instrucciones se compartirán pronto. 

Nuevo Horario De WOIS 

*El tiempo flex está designado para incorporar ciencias, estudios sociales o ampliar las lecciones de matemáticas y literatura. 

¿Por qué hay un nuevo horario? 

• El nuevo horario permite una instrucción constante durante todo el día escolar. 

• Este horario es creado para poder seguir las clases en persona o remotamente. 

• Si tuviéramos que cambiar entre cualquiera de los formatos( Remoto, En Persona, o Híbrido.) a lo largo del año, el horario no tendrá que cambiar.

Actualización de rutas de autobús 

En un esfuerzo para hacer que los autobuses sean más eficientes y reducir la cantidad de tiempo que los estudiantes están en el autobús, se hicieron varios cambios en la ruta de autobús de su estudiante. Los estudiantes permanecerán en su misma parada de autobús en su misma ruta de autobús, pero los horarios para recoger a su estudiante y dejar a su estudiante han cambiado. Todos los cambios serán a partir del Lunes Primero de Marzo. Para ver los nuevos horarios de ruta, visite la Página de transporte D76 .

La Comité SEL (Aprendizaje Social Emocional) se complace en anunciar que el tema de marzo es Conciencia de Seguridad Digital. Qué tema tan relevante considerando el impacto y la importancia que la tecnología ha tenido en nuestras vidas durante el último año. Tendremos una serie de temas informativos para compartir a lo largo de este mes. Los estudiantes también participarán en algunas actividades diferentes, desde lecturas hasta juegos interactivos que se enfocan en cómo estar seguros con la tecnología y crear buenos hábitos. Actualizaciones de las ventajas de felicidad: ¡Bienvenido a la séptima entrega de Happiness Advantage! El enfoque de esta semana es cómo es posible el cambio. El cambio es posible a través de la práctica y todos hemos escuchado el dicho, "la práctica hace al maestro". Con solo practicar tareas y habilidades, estamos expandiendo una sección de nuestro cerebro necesaria para realizar tareas. La capacidad de expandir nuestro cerebro con "mera práctica" muestra que no nacemos simplemente con un conjunto fijo de habilidades basadas en los genes con los que nos enfrentamos. Tenemos la capacidad de cambiar, solo se necesita práctica.
