Hello Students and Families of West Oak Middle School,
We had an amazing week celebrating our 8th graders with the annual dance, the 8th grade outing, and our 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony. We wish them the best of luck and they all will be missed. To the families of our 8th graders, thank you for your trust, and allowing us to work with your children. For our 6th and 7th grade students, Friday, June 2nd will be our last day of school for the 2022-2023 school year and is a regularly scheduled school day. The Main Office will be open Monday through Friday until June 15th and then be closed until July 17th. We hope you and your family have a safe and restful summer break and we look forward to everyone coming back this fall. Please reach out to our Main Office if you have any questions, and we will be in touch as soon as possible.
End of School Turn-ins: This past week, all Chromebooks and chargers were turned Students who haven’t done so already will need to return any library books, band/choir polos and instruments, along with any athletic jerseys that haven’t been previously returned. Please check with your child so that all of these items are returned to avoid responsibility for any charges.
Grades/STAR Results: We finished with our third round of STAR testing for math and reading earlier this month and the results for each student was sent home this past Friday, 5/26. Third trimester grades will be emailed out to families on Friday, June 2nd.
SEL Parent University Survey: Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is a priority at D76. In order to better serve our students, families and community, we will continue to offer parent education opportunities next school year on various subjects to support parent resources, health, safety and child development. The SEL Committee is in need of your ideas for topics of interest and/or need. Please complete the survey below to help us design and finalize plans. The survey will be available until Friday, June 9th at 8:00 am. Click here to take the survey.
Free Food Opportunities: Please review the following flyer as it outlines Mundelein’s Summer Lunch Program during the months of June through August. Also, here is another flyer for families looking to receive groceries during the summer courtesy of the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

PTO Website: Our PTO has updated their website so that students and families are able to see their calendar of events, their Executive Board, approved grants, and their meeting minutes. They are always welcoming of new members and encourage parents to get involved. They would love to see you join in on the great things they are doing for each of our district’s schools.
MHS Football: Incoming Freshman -- Now is the time to register for the Mustang Football Summer Camp! The MHS Football program is designed to prepare students for success. We are focused on our student-athletes not only being successful on the field, but also in the community beyond MHS. Here is a flier for more information and here is the registration link.
Innovation Learning: Registration for Camp Discovery is open and now available. This summer camp will begin on June 12th and promises to be a great time. Please review the following flier (English/Spanish) for more information.
Junior Police Academy: The Mundelein Police Department will hold their Jr. Police Academy during the week of June 5th this summer. The program will run from 8:30-11:30 am each day at the Mundelein Police Department. A maximum of 50 participants will be admitted for this free academy and last year it filled up very quickly. Hola Estudiantes y familias de la escuela secundaria West Oak,
Tuvimos una semana increíble celebrando a nuestros alumnos de 8.° grado con el baile anual, la salida de 8.° grado y nuestra ceremonia de promoción de 8.° grado. Les deseamos la mejor de las suertes y todos serán extrañados. A las familias de nuestros alumnos de 8vo grado, gracias por su confianza y permitirnos trabajar con sus hijos. Para nuestros estudiantes de sexto y séptimo grado, el viernes 2 de junio será nuestro último día de clases para el año escolar 2022-2023 y es un día escolar programado regularmente. La Oficina Principal estará abierta de lunes a viernes hasta el 15 de junio y luego estará cerrada hasta el 17 de julio. Esperamos que usted y su familia tengan unas vacaciones de verano seguras y tranquilas y esperamos que todos regresen este otoño. Entregas al final de la escuela: La semana pasada, se devolvieron todos los Chromebooks y cargadores. Los estudiantes que aún no lo hayan hecho deberán devolver los libros de la biblioteca, las camisetas de instrumentos de la banda/coro, junto con las camisetas deportivas que no se hayan devuelto previamente. Calificaciones/Resultados STAR:Terminamos con nuestra tercera ronda de pruebas STAR para matemáticas y lectura a principios de este mes y los resultados de cada estudiante se enviaron a casa el pasado viernes 5/26. Las calificaciones del tercer trimestre se enviarán por correo electrónico a las familias el viernes 2 de junio.
Encuesta universitaria para padres SEL:El aprendizaje socioemocional (SEL) es una prioridad en D76. Para servir mejor a nuestros estudiantes, familias y comunidad, continuaremos ofreciendo oportunidades de educación para padres el próximo año escolar sobre varios temas para apoyar los recursos para padres, la salud, la seguridad y el desarrollo infantil. El Comité SEL necesita sus ideas para temas de interés y/o necesidad. Complete la encuesta a continuación para ayudarnos a diseñar y finalizar los planes. La encuesta estará disponible hasta el viernes 9 de junio a las 8:00 am.haga clic aquí para tomar la encuesta.

Academia de Policía Junior: El Departamento de Policía de Mundelein llevará a cabo su Academia de Policía Jr. durante la semana del 5 de junio de este verano.
