Dear Diamond Lake School (DLS) Families,
Information will be sent home via email on Tuesday, November 1st regarding Parent Teacher Conferences on Monday, November 21st. Parent Teacher Conferences are one of the most important times throughout the school year. Teachers and families will have the opportunity to discuss students’ progress and work to set future goals to ensure continued success and growth. Parent Teacher Conferences will be offered both face-to-face and via Google Meet. For more information about how to sign-up for a conference time with your child’s teacher, click HERE. Please also remember that Monday, November 21st is an 11:00 am Early Release day for students.
Our Fall Into Kindness special event was great for Kindergarten last week. The students had a great time focusing on social emotional learning (SEL), building relationships with students, and engaging in a wide variety of activities. Our PreK students also had the opportunity to participate in tie dying their beautiful shirts and learning more about SEL. From PreK to 2nd Grade, DLS believes that something as simple as kindness has a great impact on our peer relationships and success within the classroom.
The big day is finally here! Staff and students are so excited for our Halloween parade and celebrations. Here is one last reminder of the big day. We look forward to seeing you and parading in our costumes.
Halloween Parade: Monday, October 31st- 8:45-9:00 am PreK-2nd Grade
Students who attend our Little Diamonds PreK program in the morning will participate in our parade with Kindergarten through 2nd Grade students. Due to the anticipated high volume of attendance and the number of students participating, our school parking lot will be closed. Families attending will need to park on Diamond Lake Rd. Families will exit their vehicles and are then welcome to line up in the front circle and around the back of the building to our playground area to watch the parade. Students will exit from the front door and parade one lap around the exterior of the building and re-enter through the back of the building. Upon completion of the parade, students will return to their classrooms to participate in a Halloween activity and snack provided by our PTO. Students will start their school day at our normal 7:40 am time and will be dismissed at 11:00 am.
Costumes
Students participating in our parades and Halloween celebrations are asked to wear their costumes to school. Though masks that accompany a costume are permitted in our parades, students may not wear costume masks while in the classroom. Costume masks containing blood, are intended to scare others, or imply severe injury to one’s face may not be worn. In addition, face concealing paint or make-up is not permitted.
Costumes must also be age appropriate and child-friendly. Students may not wear costumes containing weapons or that imply violent activity. Also, students may not wear costumes that are revealing in nature.
Snacks
PTO will be providing snacks for all students in honor of Halloween. We ask that students DO NOT bring any snacks, treats, gifts, or party favors.
In the event of inclement weather, we will make adjustments. Communication will be shared with families the day before our parade regarding the adjustments. Families are also welcome to have their children opt out of participating. Please contact me if you prefer your child not participate in our Halloween celebrations.

Thank you to all who attended this week's Parent University on Gun Safety. Mrs. April Oboikowitch shared practical information on what families can do to help keep their children safe in their homes and the homes of others. Here is the video of the presentation for you to view. Our next Parent University is scheduled for Wednesday, November 9th at 6:30 pm. This session will address the subject of Social Media Safety.

Nuestro evento especial Fall Into Kindness fue genial para Kindergarten la semana pasada. Desfile de Halloween: Lunes, 31 de octubre- 8:45-9:00 am PreK-2do grado
Los estudiantes que asisten a nuestro programa Little Diamonds PreK en la mañana participarán en nuestro desfile con estudiantes de jardín de infantes a segundo grado. Debido al alto volumen de asistencia anticipado y la cantidad de estudiantes que participan, el estacionamiento de nuestra escuela estará cerrado. Las familias que asistan deberán estacionarse en Diamond Lake Rd. Las familias saldrán de sus vehículos y luego podrán formar fila en el círculo frontal y alrededor de la parte trasera del edificio hacia nuestro área de juegos para ver el desfile. Los estudiantes saldrán por la puerta principal y darán una vuelta alrededor del exterior del edificio. Al finalizar el desfile, los estudiantes regresarán a sus salones de clases para participar en una actividad de Halloween y una merienda proporcionada por nuestro PTO. Los estudiantes comenzarán su día escolar a las 7:40 a. m. y saldrán a las 11:00 a. m.
Disfraces
A los estudiantes que participan en nuestros desfiles y celebraciones de Halloween se les pide que usen sus disfraces en la escuela. Aunque las máscaras que acompañan a un disfraz están permitidas en nuestros desfiles, los estudiantes no pueden usar máscaras de disfraz mientras están en el salón de clases. No se pueden usar máscaras de disfraces que contengan sangre, estén destinadas a asustar a otros o impliquen lesiones graves en la cara. Además, no se permite el uso de pintura o maquillaje para ocultar el rostro.
Los disfraces también deben ser apropiados para la edad y aptos para niños. Los estudiantes no pueden usar disfraces que contengan armas o que impliquen actividad violenta. Además, los estudiantes no pueden usar disfraces que sean reveladores por naturaleza.
Aperitivos
PTO proporcionará refrigerios para todos los estudiantes en honor a Halloween. Les pedimos a los estudiantes que NO traigan refrigerios, golosinas, obsequios o favores de fiesta.
Esperamos continuar con nuestra tradición de desfiles en Diamond Lake School y celebrar Halloween. En caso de mal tiempo, haremos ajustes. La comunicación se compartirá con las familias el día antes de nuestro desfile con respecto a los ajustes. Las familias también son bienvenidas para que sus hijos opten por no participar. Comuníquese conmigo si prefiere que su hijo no participe en nuestras celebraciones de Halloween.
