Dear Friends and Families of West Oak Middle School:
This week marks the midpoint in our First Trimester at West Oak Middle School. Today is considered Progress Report Day. That means that all of the grades for your student are completely up-to-date, and that the students also have a Self-Directed Learner and Respectful Citizen score. Please log into PowerSchool to see all of the up-to-date grades for your student. Please read this Progress Report Informational Sheet prepared for families to help with checking and understanding grades. If you need help accessing PowerSchool, please refer to this document and/or call our main office (847)566-9220 for support. We will NOT be mailing Progress Reports home. We will be emailing home official report cards at the end of the Trimester. If you have questions about your student’s grades, please do not hesitate to contact your student’s teachers. The teacher’s Google Voice phone numbers are on the WOMS At-A-Glance Website.
Early Release: Parents, please note that this Monday, October 5th, is an early release day. The student day will end at 11:55. The bell schedule is as-follows:

Clubs and Sports: We are excited to announce we will be offering a two-week Cross Country Camp starting on Monday, October 5th! The camp will run for two weeks from 4:00 to 5:00 at West Oak Middle School. Please see this flyer for more information and to sign-up.
As mentioned last week, the Broadcast Club, Yearbook Club, and WeGroup will be starting in October. We will include more specific information about each club in next week’s parent communication.
Tutorial: We planned to start Tutorial this week, but we will need to delay the start until October 12th. Starting October 12th, we will offer Tutorial online from 3:30 to 4:30. Our focus will be students who need reading and math support, regardless of grade level or class. More information will be included in next week’s parent letter.
STAR Testing: The STAR test is an important test we use three times a year to measure the progress of our students in reading and math. We will be administering this test remotely October 6th and 7th as a middle school. Students will take the test during first period. In order to make sure students have enough time to take the test, we will be using our AM Assembly Schedule. Students will have from 8:25 to 9:47 to take the test. Students who finish the test can exit the test session and rejoin their first period class at 9:50. The AM assembly schedule has been added below for your convenience. All grade levels follow the same schedule.

Clubes y deportes: ¡Nos complace anunciar que ofreceremos un campamento de campo a través de dos semanas a partir del lunes 5 de octubre! El campamento durará dos semanas de 4:00 a 5:00 en West Oak Middle School. Vea este folleto para obtener más información y registrarse.

Prueba STAR: La prueba STAR es una prueba importante que usamos tres veces al año para medir el progreso de nuestros estudiantes en lectura y matemáticas. Estaremos administrando esta prueba de forma remota el 6 y 7 de octubre como escuela intermedia. Los estudiantes tomarán la prueba durante el primer período. Para asegurarnos de que los estudiantes tengan suficiente tiempo para tomar el examen, usaremos nuestro horario de asamblea AM. Los estudiantes tendrán de 8:25 a 9:47 para tomar el examen.
