Hello Students and Families of West Oak Middle School,
I hope you are all doing well. Although we only had a four day week, we were quite busy. Our entire 6th grade class visited Camp Duncan on Wednesday and we had our second all student assembly this Friday. Both of these events built relationships, incorporated teamwork, encouraged positivity, and acknowledged the great things people are doing at our school. Please remember that we will be having a late start day on Monday, 10/3, and there is no school on 10/5 for Yom Kippur. Below are a few new items, and a review of some upcoming events for the month of October. Have a great weekend!
Friday Assembly 9/30: Our classes ended an hour early today as we had an all school assembly. During this time we recognized our current sports teams, Students of the Month, and gave out positive referrals that were written by students and staff throughout the month. We also had our grade levels compete in various challenges with the winner receiving our Wolfpack Spirit Trophy for the month of October. A great time was had by all!
Hard Lockdown Drill: Our students and staff did an excellent job during our Hard Lockdown drill on Thursday, 9/28. Each year, all schools are required to conduct this drill. The drill lasted approximately 10 minutes from start to finish. Working with the Lake County Sheriff's Office is just one of many ways our district remains diligent in keeping our students and staff safe. Activity Bus: Our activity buses depart from our school at 4:30 and 5:00pm each evening Monday through Thursday. If your student is attending a game or participating in a club, and is not choosing to take the buses, they need to be picked up by 5:00. Thank you for your help in getting our students home safely.
Diamond Lake School District 76 strives to provide learning opportunities for all of our students. Please take a few moments to complete this survey in order for D76 to provide a Summer Learning experience that all students would enjoy and one that families would benefit from.
Stevenson Cheerleading Clinic: Any children in kindergarten through 8th grade is invited to attend Stevenon’s Cheerleading Clinic on October 13th from 5:00-7:30pm. Here is the flyer for more information.
Smile Dentist: The SMILE Dentist is coming to West Oak Campus on October 18th. Please complete this form and send it to your child's school. If you have any questions, please contact the school nurse, Julie Marchese at 847-388-2599.
Technology Exploration: Lake County Tech Campus is excited to announce this year’s Future Quest Middle School Career Exploration Day is on October 19, 2022! This is an opportunity for 7th and 8th graders to experience career opportunities in any of their 20 different program areas. Here is the link to access these programs. The event gives students the opportunity to experience three different career programs and it will run from 3:30 to 7:00pm. A bus will be provided to and from the event and there is no cost. Lake County Tech will provide students with pizza, cookies and water on that evening as well. If your child is interested please complete this Form. A survey will be sent out as the event gets closer so that students will be able to choose the three technology fields they would like to explore that night.
Dia De Los Muertos: We are excited to announce that our Dia De Los Muertos event is coming back this year! It will be held on October 28th, 6:00-8:00pm. Here is the flyer for more additional information. This promises to be a good time with activities for all ages. We hope to see you and your family there.

Hola estudiantes y familias de la escuela secundaria West Oak,
Espero que todos estén bien. Aunque solo teníamos una semana de cuatro días, estábamos bastante ocupados. Toda nuestra clase de sexto grado visitó Camp Duncan el Miércoles y tuvimos nuestra segunda asamblea de todos los estudiantes este viernes. Ambos eventos construyeron relaciones, incorporaron el trabajo en equipo, alentaron la positividad y reconocieron las grandes cosas que la gente está haciendo en nuestra escuela. Recuerde que el lunes 3 de Octubre comenzaremos tarde y no habrá clases el 5 de octubre para Yom Kippur. Asamblea del viernes 9/30: Nuestras clases terminaron una hora antes hoy ya que tuvimos una asamblea de toda la escuela. Simulacro de Encierro Duró: Nuestros estudiantes y personal hicieron un excelente trabajo durante nuestro simulacro de Encierro Duró el jueves 28 de septiembre. Cada año, todas las escuelas deben realizar este simulacro. El simulacro duró aproximadamente 10 minutos de principio a fin. Trabajar con la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de Lake es solo una de las muchas formas en que nuestro distrito sigue siendo diligente para mantener seguros a nuestros estudiantes y personal.
