Dear Diamond Lake School (DLS) Families,
The end of the 2021-2022 school year is quickly approaching and what better way to finish the year than with a week of celebrations! The week of May 23rd, we will be participating in all different types of activities as a way of recognizing what an outstanding year we had together. Please see our celebration schedule below.
Monday, May 23rd: DLS will be welcoming Miss Jamie’s Farm for a musical show and celebration. Organized by our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Committee, we look forward to singing, dancing, and learning about her farm.
Tuesday, May 24th: DLS will be welcoming Mr. Robert Carmichael from Wildlife Discovery Center. Curator of this center sponsored by the Lake Forest Parks and Recreation and located at Elawa Farm, he will come with live reptiles for our students. With each grade level working on different animal projects this Spring, our PBIS Committee thought this would be a great experience for our students.
Wednesday, May 25th: Weather permitting, this will be DLS May Play Day. Our new and improved version of Field Day will include a 1 hour play time for students to rotate through various stations that our PE Teacher, Ms. Pawlowski, will be creating. Homeroom teachers will accompany their class during this play time and families are welcome to volunteer to assist with their child’s grade level, see the May Play Day schedule below. If it rains and we are unable to have our May Play Day on this day, we will reschedule it for Thursday, May 26th. If it rains on Thursday as well, May Play Day will be canceled.

Friday, May 27th: Located in Vernon Hills, students will be taking a field trip to Castle Park. Castle Park is a large play area for students with different types of playground equipment, including a 50 foot zip line! With our initiatives this year, our Building Leadership Team thought this would be a great way to bring students together one last time to celebrate kindness and the friendships we have built. Click HERE to view the structures and information about the park. Permission slips for this field trip will be sent home on Monday and are due back by Monday, May 23rd!
Donations are in! Thank you so much for your support of the World Wildlife Fund. DLS raised $672. As a result, we will now have 11 African Elephants adopted in our school name. WWF will send pictures, information cards, and a few other gifts for our school to show their appreciation for our donations.
On behalf of the entire DLS staff, we want to thank you for the outpouring of appreciation this week. From breakfast to lunch to treats to thoughtful gifts, we thank you for your generosity and recognition during Teacher Appreciation Week.

Smile Dentist
Thursday, May 19th DLS will be welcoming Smile Dentist back to the building. If your child is in need of a dental cleaning, please be sure to complete the paperwork your child brought home by Thursday, May 12th. Our front office has extra copies of the printed forms or you may complete the online version by clicking HERE.
Parent University
A big thank you to Carliann Pentz and Daisy Carrera for presenting last week's Parent University on the subject of, "Understanding and Promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion." Thank you for all that attended, and here is the recording in case you missed the presentation. The SEL Committee's next, and final Parent University, will feature each of District 76's principals on the subject of, "Building Home and School Partnerships Through Summer Break." This is scheduled for May 11th at 6:30pm. We hope to see you there!

Summer Learning Registration
The District 76 Summer Learning Program is now open for registration. Please click on this link to register. Summer Learning will be held over two sessions. Session 1 will be held June 6th-June 30th, Monday through Thursday each week, from 8:00-11:30am. Session 2 will be held August 1st- August 12th, Monday through Thursday both weeks, from 8:00-11:30am. You will have the option to sign up for either session or both.
Summer Learning Dual Language Registration
District 76 is also excited to announce that we will be able to offer a Summer Dual Language Program! Diamond Lake School District is offering Dual Language for Summer Learning FOR STUDENTS CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN DUAL LANGUAGE. Dual Language will be held during the first session of Summer Learning for all students currently in K-7th grade, and offered during the second session for grades 2nd-7th. Dual Language classes will be grouped in grade level clusters. Dual Language will be taught as K-1st, 2nd-4th and 5th-7th clusters. K-1st will only be available for Session 1. Grades 2nd-4th and 5th-7th will be taught both sessions. Class will be on Monday through Thursday, from 8:00-11:30 am. There is no school on Monday, June 20th. IF YOU HAVE ALREADY SIGNED YOUR CHILD UP FOR SUMMER LEARNING AND WOULD RATHER ENROLL THEM IN DUAL LANGUAGE, PLEASE COMPLETE THIS FORM AND WE WILL REMOVE YOUR CHILD'S GENERAL EDUCATION SUMMER LEARNING REGISTRATION.
2022-2023 DLS K-2nd Registration
Registration for the 2022-2023 school year is underway! If you have students returning to DLS or transferring over to West Oak Campus, you have received communication from the district containing the necessary Snapcode that you will need to register your child. If you have a child who will be starting Kindergarten this August, you can also receive a Snapcode for your child by completing the pre registration. It is incredibly important that students are registered in our system as soon as possible. By registering your child, we are able to plan for the upcoming school year, screen students as needed, and place them in the appropriate classroom. 2022-2023 Little Diamonds Preschool
Our early childhood program is also new and improved! Little Diamonds Early Learning Program is a play based program that gives children ages 3 and 4 years old by September 1st the opportunity to engage with other children and strengthen social, emotional, and language skills. El final del año escolar 2021-2022 se acerca rápidamente y ¡qué mejor manera de terminar el año que con una semana de celebraciones! La semana del 23 de mayo participaremos en todo tipo de actividades diferentes como una forma de reconocer el año excepcional que tuvimos juntos. Lunes 23 de mayo: DLS dará la bienvenida a Miss Jamie 's Farm para un espectáculo musical y una celebración. Organizado por nuestro Comité de Apoyo e Intervenciones para el Comportamiento Positivo (PBIS, por sus siglas en inglés), esperamos cantar, bailar y aprender sobre su granja.
Martes 24 de mayo: DLS le dará la bienvenida al Sr. Robert Carmichael del Wildlife Discovery Center. Miércoles 25 de mayo: Si el clima lo permite, este será el Día de juego de mayo de DLS. Nuestra versión nueva y mejorada de Field Day incluirá un tiempo de juego de 1 hora para que los estudiantes roten a través de varias estaciones que nuestra maestra de educación física, la Sra. Pawlowski, estará creando. Los maestros de aula acompañarán a su clase durante este tiempo de juego y las familias pueden ser voluntarias para ayudar con el nivel de grado de sus hijos, consulte el horario del Día de juego de mayo a continuación. Viernes 27 de mayo: Ubicado en Vernon Hills, los estudiantes realizarán una excursión a Castle Park. Castle Park es una gran área de juegos para estudiantes con diferentes tipos de juegos, ¡incluyendo una tirolesa de 50 pies! Con nuestras iniciativas de este año, nuestro Equipo de Creación de Liderazgo pensó que esta sería una excelente manera de reunir a los estudiantes por última vez para celebrar la bondad y las amistades que hemos construido. Registro de escuela de Verano
El Programa de escuela de Verano del Distrito 76 está ahora abierto para registrarse. Haga clic en este enlace para registrarse. La escuela de verano se llevará a cabo en dos sesiones. La sesión 1 se llevará a cabo del 6 de junio al 30 de junio, de lunes a jueves cada semana, de 8 a 11:30am. La sesión 2 se llevará a cabo del 1 de agosto al 12 de agosto, de lunes a jueves ambas semanas, de 8 a 11:30am. Tendrá la opción de inscribirse en una sesión o en ambas.
Inscripción para el programa Dual para el aprendizaje de verano
¡El Distrito 76 también se complace en anunciar que podremos ofrecer un programa de lenguaje dual de verano! El distrito escolar de Diamond Lake ofrece idioma dual para el aprendizaje de verano PARA ESTUDIANTES ACTUALMENTE INSCRITOS EN IDIOMA DUAL. El lenguaje dual se llevará a cabo durante la primera sesión de Aprendizaje de verano para todos los estudiantes que actualmente están en los grados K-7, y se ofrecerá durante la segunda sesión para los grados 2-7. Las clases de lenguaje dual se agruparán en grupos de nivel de grado. El lenguaje dual se enseñará como grupos K-1st, 2nd-4th y 5th-7th. K-1st solo estará disponible para la Sesión 1. ¡La inscripción para el año escolar 2022-2023 está en marcha!
