WOIS News

Spirit Week

This coming week is Spirit Week at WOIS.  Students, whether in person or remote are encouraged to participate!!  Here are the themes for each day:

Monday: Dress Like Your Future Career 

Tuesday: Pajama Day

Wednesday: Hat/Crazy Hair Day

Thursday: Wear Your Favorite Colors

Friday: Sports/School Spirit

Report Cards 

Report Cards for the Second Trimester will be sent home next Friday, 2.26.  They will be sent electronically to the email address that you have supplied the office.  If your information has changed, please contact the WOIS office to update your email address.  We will also be sending home Winter STAR Assessment reports.  These reports will also be sent electronically.  If you need a hard copy of either report, please contact the WOIS office to arrange a time to pick up the documents.

School Lunch

Hot lunch is offered to all District 76 students, free of charge.  If your student would like hot lunch, it will be available each day, and you do not need to order it.  If you would like to know what is being served, the Food Services web page is linked here.  Just click on the drop down menu to view the monthly hot lunch menu.  Curbside pick-up is from 11:00am - 1:00pm on Tuesday and Friday at the West Oak Campus.

In Person Learning Begins 

In Person Learning for students in the “A” group, last names beginning A-L, will be in session on Monday and Tuesday each week.  Students in the “B” group, last names beginning with M-Z, wil be in session on Thursday and Friday each week.  Wednesday each week will be a remote learning day for all students.

Hybrid Learning: 

• Concurrent Learning and Curriculum for both in-person and remote learners

• Students will be taught by their regular classroom teachers

• Consistent Weekly Schedule for Students and Family Planning (Hybrid Calendar)

• Breakfast and hot lunch will be provided for all students at no additional cost, and no need to order at this time.

WOIS Return to School Video

WOIS Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures                                                  Morning Drop-Off will take place between 7:50 and 8:00am each day.  On full school days, pick-up is at 2:55pm, with early dismissal pick-up at 11:30am.  All in person learning students that are being dropped off or picked up in a car will use our WOIS Main Entrance, Door #8.  Please complete the full parking lot loop.  See the map below for guidance

Picture Day is Coming!!

WOIS will be hosting student picture days in April.  Monday, April 12th will accommodate in person students in Group “A” and Thursday, April 15th will accommodate in person students in Group “B” during the school day.  Remote learning students will be invited to the West Oak Campus on the evening of Monday, April 12th to have pictures taken.  Details for the evening event as well as scheduling instructions will be shared soon.

New WOIS Schedule

*Flex time is designated to incorporate science, social studies, or extend math and literacy lessons.

Why a new schedule?

• The new schedule allows for consistent instruction throughout the entire school day

• This schedule is able to be followed whether or not a student is in person or remote

• If we were to have to switch between any of the formats (Remote, In Person, or Hybrid) throughout the year, the schedule will not have to change.

SEL Committee Updates

African-American History Month: Hello and welcome to another installment of our SEL committee’s February theme celebrating African-American History Month. This post centers around a common misconception of non-minorities about race. All too often we as parents say to our children, “we do not see color.” Although with good intentions in mind, this belief and practice are actually counterproductive, as our differences are the things that make all of us who we are. Due to this, we should view all of our differences in a positive way with compassion and empathy. The following article by Catherine Pearce of the HuffPost explains this in more detail. Happiness Advantage Update

Too often in the world of being an educator, a parent, or a student, especially in times like these, we get caught in the current of doing, doing more, multitasking, and figuring out ways to be as productive as we possibly can. This leaves us feeling swamped and unsatisfied. We too often miss the mark. We can’t forget to swim up for air. This may include spending time with loved ones and giving time to that which gives us true rest. The ironic part is that when we do so, that is what gives us the energy, motivation, capability, and push to do more. Many times we find that we will outperform the old us that were far too focused on just simply doing more, more, more. This week let’s dedicate a time for rest or time with our family. As we relearn to swim up for air, let’s see how that changes our mindset and affects how we perform at our jobs, daily lives, and at school.

Boleta De Calificaciones

Las tarjetas de calificaciones para el segundo trimestre serán enviadas a casa el próximo viernes, 2.26. Se enviarán electrónicamente a la dirección de correo electrónico que haya proporcionado a la oficina. Si su información ha cambiado, póngase en contacto con la oficina de WOIS para actualizar su correo electrónico. También enviaremos a casa los informes de evaluación STAR de invierno. Estos informes también se enviarán electrónicamente. Si necesita una copia impresa de cualquiera de los informes, por favor contacte a la oficina de WOIS para arreglar una hora para poder recoger los documentos.

Almuerzo De La Escuela 

Se les ofrecerá almuerzo caliente a todos los estudiantes del distrito 76 de forma gratuita.  Si su estudiante desea almuerzo caliente, estará disponible todos los días, y usted no necesita pedirlo. Si desea saber lo que se está sirviendo, la página web de Servicio De Comida está vinculada en este  enlace .  Simplemente haga clic en el menú desplegable para ver el menú mensual de almuerzo caliente. La recogida en la acera es de 11:00am a 1:00 pm los martes y viernes en el West Oak Campus.

Aprendizaje En Persona Comienza

Aprendizaje en persona para los estudiantes del grupo "A", los apellidos que comienzan A-L, estarán en sesión los lunes y martes de cada semana. Los estudiantes del grupo "B", apellidos que comienzan con M-Z, estarán en sesión los jueves y viernes de cada semana. El miércoles de cada semana será un día de aprendizaje remoto para todos los estudiantes.

Aprendizaje híbrido

• Aprendizaje simultáneo y plan de estudios para estudiantes tanto en persona como a distancia 

• Los estudiantes serán enseñados por sus maestros regulares

• Calendario semanal consistente para estudiantes y Planificación Familiar  (Calendario Hibrido )

• Desayuno y almuerzo caliente serán proporcionados para todos los estudiantes sin costo adicional, y no hay necesidad de ordenar en este momento.

Procedimientos de Dejar y Recoger  WOIS                                                  Usted puede dejar a su estudiante en la mañana entre 7:50 y 8:00  cada día.  En días completos de la escuela, el tiempo de recoger a sus hijos es 2:55pm, cuando  la salida es más temprana, el tiempo para recoger a sus hijos es 11:30am.  Todos los estudiantes que vendrán en persona que van a ser dejados o recogidos en un carro, usarán la puerta principal a WOIS, puerta #8.  Por favor complete el circuito completo del estacionamiento.  Ve el mapa abajo, para guiarse .  

Se acerca el día de fotos!!

WOIS organizará un día de fotos de estudiantes en abril. El lunes 12 de abril acomodaremos a los estudiantes que estén en persona en el Grupo "A" y el jueves 15 de abril acomodaremos a los estudiantes que estén en persona en el Grupo "B" durante el día escolar. Estudiantes de aprendizaje remoto   serán invitados al Campus de West Oak por la  noche el  lunes 12 de abril para que se tomen fotos. Los detalles para el evento e instrucciones se compartirán pronto. 

Nuevo Horario De WOIS 

*El tiempo flex está designado para incorporar ciencias, estudios sociales o ampliar las lecciones de matemáticas y literatura. 

¿Por qué hay un nuevo horario? 

• El nuevo horario permite una instrucción constante durante todo el día escolar. 

• Este horario es creado para poder seguir las clases en persona o remotamente. 

• Si tuviéramos que cambiar entre cualquiera de los formatos( Remoto, En Persona, o Híbrido.) a lo largo del año, el horario no tendrá que cambiar.

Actualizaciones del Comité SEL

Mes de la Historia Afroamericana: Hola y bienvenido a otra entrega del tema de febrero de nuestro comité SEL que celebra el Mes de la Historia Afroamericana. Esta publicación se centra en un concepto erróneo común de las no minorías sobre la raza. Con demasiada frecuencia, como padres, les decimos a nuestros hijos: "No vemos el color". Aunque con buenas intenciones en mente, esta creencia y práctica son en realidad contraproducentes, ya que nuestras diferencias son las cosas que nos hacen a todos quienes somos. Debido a esto, debemos ver todas nuestras diferencias de una manera positiva con compasión y empatía. El siguiente artículo de Catherine Pearce del HuffPost explica esto con más detalle. Actualización de la ventaja de felicidad

Muchas veces en el mundo de ser educador, ser padre o ser un estudiante, especialmente en tiempos como estos, nos dejamos llevar por la corriente de hacer, hacer más, hacer multitareas y averiguando cómo ser lo más productivo que podamos. Esto nos deja sintiendo ahogados e insatisfechos. Muchas veces perdemos la marca. No podemos olvidar de nadar hacia arriba para respirar. Esto puede incluir pasando el tiempo con nuestros seres queridos y dándole el tiempo a aquellas cosas que nos dan descanso verdadero.  La parte irónica es que cuando hacemos esto, esto es lo que nos da la energía, la motivación, la capacidad y el empuje para hacer más. Muchas veces encontramos que superamos a la persona que éramos antes, quien estaba tan enfocada en nada más hacer más, más, más. Esta semana vamos a dedicar un tiempo para descansar o pasar el tiempo con nuestra familia. Mientras aprendemos a nadar hacia arriba para respirar vamos a ver cómo esto cambia nuestra mentalidad y afecta nuestro desempeño en nuestros trabajos, vidas diarias y en la escuela.
