March 17, 2021: Family Update

Dear D76 Families and Staff,

I hope this message finds you and your family well. After 6 weeks of hybrid instruction and with mitigation efforts firmly in place, I am pleased to share that we are increasing our in-person learning time from two to five days each week.  All families who currently are in and/or selected an in-person learning option in the most recent Declaration of Intent will begin to attend school in person five days a week beginning on Monday, April 12th.

The DLT presented the data and recommendations for the remainder of the 3rd Trimester at the Board of Education Meeting on Tuesday, March 16th based on the Updated ISBE Guidance 3.9.21.  The presentation can be found by clicking here.  The updated plan will require some changes to classroom set-up and building procedures.  We will be making these changes over spring break and in the two weeks to follow to welcome more students with increased days/time back into the buildings.

We will continue to adhere to guidance from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) in following the timeline below. Remote learning will continue to be an option for the remainder of the school year for families who choose to remain in the Distance Learning Academy.

Important Dates:

  • 3.22.21-3.26.21: Spring Break-no school for staff and students

  • 3.29.21-4.9.21: Continue with current A/B Hybrid Learning Plan and Schedule to allow for quarantining due to potential spring break travel

  • 4.12.21-6.4.21: All in-person learning students will attend school 5 days a week for the remainder of 3rd Trimester; all other students continue to attend school remotely.

Important Updated Resources:

If transportation was requested, route information will be available within the Transportation Page on our website. Route assignments, as well as pick up and drop off times, will be adjusted to accommodate for the number of students attending in-person each day.

Thank you for your continued patience, flexibility, understanding and support during these challenging times.
