Dear Diamond Lake School (DLS) Families,
Mrs. Parduhn is currently working to get all of our library books checked back in, but in order to do so we need students to return all the materials they have checked out. Please be sure to check your child’s backpack and your home for any books your child checked out at the DLS Library and brought home with them. You are welcome to return the books to our front office or simply send them back with your child. We still have a significant number of books and materials floating around out there. We have connected this week's PBIS Challenge to taking responsibility for returning library books.
PBIS Challenge #10: It is incredibly important that we have all our materials returned so that we can restock our shelves and prepare for the 2023-2024 school year. Help your child take responsibility and work with them to find all the materials they may have brought home. Please ask your child if they have any materials at home and how they can sparkle with responsibility by returning them.
Our final DLS Family Night is quickly approaching! Our goal is to provide families with a fun experience that can assist in students practicing Math concepts, skills, and facts over the summer. On Tuesday, May 23rd, students will be engaging in different Math activities and strategies from different countries and enjoying cultural refreshments. Take a look at the details below.
"All Board Diamond Airways. This is your captain speaking. Tonight you will be traveling around the world for a wild adventure of problem solving, higher order thinking, and fact fluency. So, fasten your seatbelt, sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride!"
Stations will be set up around the perimeter of the gym with different Math activities and explorations from around the world that students will engage in.
Prior to entering the gym, families receive a DLS passport along with a Boarding Pass from our Bilingual Parent Advisory Council (BPAC) representatives who will have the opportunity to introduce themselves and also provide materials and/or resources about D76 BPAC for the upcoming school year.
The passport will be used with the goal that students "travel around the world" by the time they exit the gym. Approximately stations, DLS staff will work the stations and place a country sticker in the students’ passports prior to their “landing” to show they have "traveled" to that table.
Once families enter the gym, they will also receive a folder with a symbol of a suitcase on the front of it to represent their luggage that will be packed with Math activities, strategies, and tools by the end of their trip around the gym.
Once families have “landed safely and exited the aircraft,” they will travel through Terminal 5, same as the international terminal number at O'Hare Airport, to the arrival party in the cafeteria with cultural refreshments and a photo spot for families to take a vacation photo.

Estimadas familias de la Escuela Diamond Lake (DLS),
La Sra. Parduhn actualmente está trabajando para recuperar todos los libros de nuestra biblioteca, pero para hacerlo necesitamos que los estudiantes devuelvan todos los materiales que han prestado. Asegúrese de revisar la mochila de su hijo y su casa en busca de libros que su hijo haya prestado en la biblioteca de DLS y que haya llevado a casa. Le invitamos a devolver los libros a nuestra oficina principal o simplemente enviarlos con su hijo. Todavía tenemos una cantidad significativa de libros y materiales flotando por ahí. Hemos conectado el desafío PBIS de esta semana para asumir la responsabilidad de devolver los libros de la biblioteca.
Desafío PBIS #10: Es increíblemente importante que devolvamos todos nuestros materiales para que podamos reabastecer nuestros estantes y prepararnos para el año escolar 2023-2024. Ayude a su hijo a asumir la responsabilidad y trabaje con él para encontrar todos los materiales que pueda haber llevado a casa. Pregúntele a su hijo si tiene algún material en casa y cómo puede brillar con responsabilidad al devolverlo.
¡Nuestra noche familiar final de DLS se acerca rápidamente! Nuestro objetivo es brindar a las familias una experiencia divertida que pueda ayudar a los estudiantes a practicar conceptos, habilidades y operaciones matemáticas durante el verano. El martes 23 de mayo, los estudiantes participarán en diferentes actividades y estrategias de matemáticas de diferentes países y disfrutarán de refrigerios culturales. Echa un vistazo a los detalles a continuación.
"Todos a bordo de Diamond Airways. Habla su capitán. Esta noche viajará alrededor del mundo en una aventura salvaje de resolución de problemas, pensamiento de orden superior y fluidez en los hechos. Entonces, abróchese el cinturón de seguridad, siéntese, relájese y disfrute de la experiencia".
Se instalarán estaciones alrededor del perímetro del gimnasio con diferentes actividades matemáticas y exploraciones de todo el mundo en las que participarán los estudiantes.
Antes de ingresar al gimnasio, las familias reciben un pasaporte DLS junto con un pase de abordar de nuestros representantes del Consejo Asesor de Padres Bilingües (BPAC) quienes tendrán la oportunidad de presentarse y también brindar materiales y/o recursos sobre D76 BPAC para el próximo año escolar.
El pasaporte se utilizará con el objetivo de que los estudiantes "viajen por todo el mundo" cuando salgan del gimnasio. Aproximadamente en las estaciones, el personal de DLS trabajará en las estaciones y colocará una calcomanía del país en los pasaportes de los estudiantes antes de su "aterrizaje" para mostrar que han "viajado" a esa mesa.
Una vez que las familias ingresen al gimnasio, también recibirán una carpeta con el símbolo de una maleta en el frente para representar su equipaje que estará lleno de actividades, estrategias y herramientas de matemáticas al final de su viaje por el gimnasio.
Una vez que las familias hayan "aterrizado de manera segura y salido del avión", viajarán a través de la Terminal 5, igual que el número de terminal internacional en el Aeropuerto O'Hare, a la fiesta de llegada en la cafetería con refrigerios culturales y un lugar para tomar fotografías para que las familias tomen una foto de vacaciones
