Dear Diamond Lake School (DLS) Families,
Final report cards for the 2022-2023 school year were sent today to all families via email. Please be sure to review and discuss the report card with your child. It is always encouraging to celebrate your child’s growth and achievements and identify areas for improvement. This is also a great way to determine what skills your child should practice while home over the summer.
If you are in need of registering your child for the 2023-2024 school year, please be aware of when our office will be open. Below you will see the special office hours in the weeks ahead:

This week was filled with celebrations, reflections, and memories of the special moments that mattered at DLS. First, we would like to thank our Physical Education Teacher, Ms. Alexis Pawlowski, for an incredible Field Day! Warm weather and great activities set to a Disney theme provided us with an opportunity for our students and staff to play together and take on outdoor challenges. All of this could not have been possible without the kindness of our PTO and the volunteer families who helped us with this event. On behalf of students and staff, we thank you for your generosity. The Freeze Pops were a great cooldown treat, and the volunteers helped to keep everything running smoothly! Thank you!
We are also VERY excited to announce that we welcomed a new family member to DLS! Dr. Sharma-Lewis made the announcement last Friday that we officially have a school mascot named Sparkles. If you did not see Sparkles in the carline, I am confident that your children gave you all the details of our special visitor assembly on Visitors Day. HERE is a great clip and pictures of the big announcement. Sparkles also visited all the DLS classrooms yesterday to wish students well this summer. 2nd Grade students were asking, “Will Sparkles ever come visit us at West Oak?” Absolutely! Sparkles will continue to make guest appearances throughout the district.
Our final project for the year was the introduction of The Diamond Dish: Where daily news SPARKLES. Sponsored by news network DLS76 Mundelein, The Diamond Dish is the name of our new TV show. Starting in 2023-2024, we will be providing families with an episode each month; highlighting the learning experiences happening both inside our classrooms and throughout our community. Episodes will include items such as Community Cuddles, building wide cross-curricular units, social emotional learning opportunities with grade level peers and mentors, bilingual and cultural mini lessons, and creative and innovative ways for students to highlight their strengths and talents. We would also like to send our sincere gratitude to production editor, D76 K-5 Instructional Math Coach, Ms. Vicki Reilly.
On behalf of DLS staff, we thank you for a fabulous school year. It was wonderful to work closely with you and provide the strongest connection and support system between home and school. It was a privilege to work with you and your children. We look forward to continuing our work together in the 2023-2024 school year, and wish our soon-to-be 3rd graders all the best at West Oak Intermediate School (WOIS). We know your children are going to absolutely love working with the WOIS staff and Principal Kurt Preble. WOIS is a dynamic team of educators and leaders.

2023-2024 Registration
Registration for the 2023-2024 school year is open! Click HERE to access our district registration page. Please remember you will need your Snapcode to access the system and register your children. Snapcodes were sent to all families via email and postal mail. If you do not have your Snapcode, please contact our front office 847-566-6601. We’re happy to help! Completing registration is crucial.
Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Parent University Survey
SEL is a priority at D76. In order to better serve our students, families, and community, we will continue to offer parent education opportunities next school year on various subjects to support parent resources, health, safety, and child development. The SEL Committee is in need of your ideas for topics of interest and/or need. Please complete the survey below to help us design and finalize plans. Las boletas de calificaciones finales para el año escolar 2022-2023 se enviaron hoy a todas las familias por correo electrónico. Asegúrese de revisar y discutir la boleta de calificaciones con su hijo. Siempre es alentador celebrar el crecimiento y los logros de su hijo e identificar áreas de mejora. ¡También estamos MUY emocionados de anunciar que le dimos la bienvenida a un nuevo miembro de la familia a DLS! La Dra. Sharma-Lewis hizo el anuncio el viernes pasado de que oficialmente tenemos una mascota escolar llamada Sparkles. Si no vio a Sparkles en la línea de autos, estoy seguro de que sus hijos le brindaron todos los detalles de nuestra asamblea especial de visitantes el Día de los Visitantes. Encuesta para padres universitarios sobre aprendizaje socioemocional (SEL, por sus siglas en inglés)
SEL es una prioridad en D76. Para servir mejor a nuestros estudiantes, familias y comunidad, continuaremos ofreciendo oportunidades de educación para padres el próximo año escolar sobre varios temas para apoyar los recursos para padres, la salud, la seguridad y el desarrollo infantil. El Comité SEL necesita sus ideas para temas de interés y/o necesidad. Complete la encuesta a continuación para ayudarnos a diseñar y finalizar los planes.
