Dear Diamond Lake School (DLS) Families,
We have an action pack week ahead of us! Friday, September 8th, we are excited to welcome the Countryside Fire (CFD) Department to DLS to meet with students and discuss fire prevention and fire safety. CFD will make two visits throughout the school year, Fall and Spring. Below is the structure of the program for the Fall and the Spring session will be a continuation.
Fall Semester
PreK: 15 minutes, read aloud to students
Kindergarten: 30 minutes, flash card games including Tools vs. Toys, What’s Hot What’s Not, and an introduction to smoke alarms with Tank the Turtle puppet.
1st Grade: 30 minutes, Join my Fire Safety Club/video, review of the senses used in an emergency, and 911 and the importance of address introduction.
2nd Grade: 30 minutes, Where There is Smoke There is Fire video and review of fire triangle.
Fire protection and fire safety within our building and at home are important topics for students. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) encourages families to have action plans, practice drills, and evacuation procedures just like we do here at DLS. Each year at DLS, we also host different dress up days of celebration. Next Friday, September 8th, we will be kicking off the 2023-2024 NFL season! We invite all students to wear their Bears gears or blue and orange to support the team. If you’re a fan of a different football team, no problem! Team spirit is the true celebration. Students are encouraged to wear any colors, sports gear, or DLS school spirit wear to help kickoff the new season!
Friday September 8th from 6:00-8:00pm is our Back to School Bash sponsored by the PTO. We will have food for purchase, entertainment for the kids, raffle prizes, Spirit Wear, and the School of Rock will be performing. Everyone is invited to join us to celebrate heading back to school. Tickets may be purchased in advance by sending money to school with your child or by using our QR code on the handout that was sent home but is also available on the PTO website. We are still looking for volunteers for this event. Volunteers will receive free admission and one free raffle ticket. Please contact [email protected] if you are interested in helping us out.
It was great to see all of you at Curriculum Night! We appreciate your attendance and hope that you found this time valuable in learning about your child’s education and experience at DLS. Our Spirit Wear store is currently open! We will be accepting orders until September 9th. Items are available to pick up at school or have delivered to your home. This year we have a large variety of items to choose from. There is something for everyone! The QR code for shopping and ordering can be found on the handout that was sent home as well as on the PTO website.
Parent University: Our SEL Committee will be holding their next Parent University this coming Wednesday, September 6th, at 5:30pm. This presentation will be on our District's Executive Functioning program and how families can help their child learn how to be more organized. This year we will be offering a hybrid option where families can attend virtually, or in-person at the Sparkle Center located in the Diamond Lake School. We look forward to seeing you there!
Required Health Forms: Please be aware that per the state of Illinois all students entering Preschool, Kindergarten, and 2nd Grade must have their age appropriate health forms submitted to our front office by Monday, October 16th. Below you will see the requirements for each grade level. Please note that students entering 1st Grade are not required to submit health forms of any nature. If we do not receive the required forms by Monday, October 16th, your students will not be able to attend school until the forms are completed and turned into our office.
Preschool: Physical only
Kindergarten: Immunization, physical, dental, and vision
2nd Grade: Dental only
Smile Dentist: On Friday, October 20th, we will be welcoming Smile Dentist to DLS. Families will have the opportunity to sign their children up for a free dental check-up and cleaning. More information to come, but mark this date in your calendar!
Medication Authorization Form: If your child needs to take medication of any kind throughout the school day, in response to allergies, or under specific circumstances, families are required to complete the D76 Medical Authorization form. Portions of the form must be completed by your child’s physician. Click HERE to access the form. In addition to the completed form, families must provide the medication in its original container. Printed copies of the form are also available in our front office.

¡Tenemos una semana llena de acción por delante! El viernes 8 de septiembre, nos complace darle la bienvenida al Departamento de Bomberos Campestres (CFD) a DLS para reunirse con los estudiantes y discutir la prevención y seguridad contra incendios. CFD realizará dos visitas durante el año escolar, otoño y primavera. A continuación se muestra la estructura del programa para la sesión de otoño y la de primavera será una continuación.
Semestre de otoño
Prekínder: 15 minutos, leer en voz alta a los estudiantes.
Kindergarten: 30 minutos, juegos de tarjetas flash que incluyen Herramientas versus juguetes, Qué está de moda, qué no y una introducción a las alarmas de humo con el títere Tank the Turtle.

La protección y seguridad contra incendios dentro de nuestro edificio y en el hogar son temas importantes para los estudiantes. La Asociación Nacional de Protección contra Incendios (NFPA) alienta a las familias a tener planes de acción, practicar simulacros y procedimientos de evacuación tal como lo hacemos aquí en DLS. Cada año en DLS, también organizamos diferentes días de celebración con disfraces. ¡El próximo viernes 8 de septiembre daremos inicio a la temporada 2023-2024 de la NFL! Invitamos a todos los estudiantes a usar su equipo Bears o azul y naranja para apoyar al equipo. Si eres fanático de otro equipo de fútbol, ¡no hay problema! El espíritu de equipo es la verdadera celebración. ¡Se anima a los estudiantes a usar cualquier color, ropa deportiva o ropa de espíritu escolar de DLS para ayudar a iniciar la nueva temporada!
El viernes 8 de septiembre de 6:00 a 8:00 p. m. es nuestra fiesta de regreso a clases patrocinada por el PTO. Tendremos comida para comprar, entretenimiento para los niños, premios de rifa, ropa espiritual y actuará la Escuela de Rock. Todos están invitados a unirse a nosotros para celebrar el regreso a clases. Los boletos se pueden comprar por adelantado enviando dinero a la escuela con su hijo o usando nuestro código QR en el folleto que se envió a casa pero que también está disponible en el sitio web del PTO. Celebraremos el inicio de un nuevo año escolar con nuestra Organización de Padres y Maestros (PTO) del D76. Nuestra fiesta de regreso a clases se llevará a cabo el viernes 8 de septiembre de 6:00 a 8:00 pm en el campus de West Oak. ¡Habrá comida disponible para compra únicamente en efectivo y también tendremos la presentación de la Escuela de Rock, premios de rifa y actividades divertidas! ¡Esperamos unirnos como comunidad y celebrar un nuevo año escolar increíble!

Universidad de padres: Nuestro Comité SEL llevará a cabo su próxima Universidad para Padres el próximo miércoles 6 de septiembre a las 5:30 p.m. Esta presentación tratará sobre el programa de Funcionamiento Ejecutivo de nuestro Distrito y cómo las familias pueden ayudar a sus hijos a aprender a ser más organizados. Este año ofreceremos una opción híbrida donde las familias pueden asistir virtualmente o en persona en el Sparkle Center ubicado en la escuela Diamond Lake. Esperamos verlos allí!
Formularios de salud requeridos: Tenga en cuenta que, según el estado de Illinois, todos los estudiantes que ingresan a preescolar, jardín de infantes y segundo grado deben presentar los formularios de salud apropiados para su edad en nuestra oficina principal antes del lunes 16 de octubre. Smile Dentist: El viernes 20 de octubre le daremos la bienvenida a Smile Dentist a DLS. Las familias tendrán la oportunidad de inscribir a sus hijos en un chequeo y limpieza dental gratuitos. Próximamente más información, pero marca esta fecha en tu calendario!
Formulario de autorización de medicación: Si su hijo necesita tomar medicamentos de cualquier tipo durante el día escolar, en respuesta a alergias o en circunstancias específicas, las familias deben completar el formulario de Autorización médica D76. El médico de su hijo debe completar partes del formulario. Haga clic AQUÍ para acceder al formulario. Además del formulario completo, las familias deberán entregar el medicamento en su envase original. Las copias impresas del formulario también están disponibles en nuestra oficina principal.
