Hello Students and Families of West Oak Middle School,
We had an amazing and successful week! Our band and choir programs gave amazing performances in each of their events. Our students also did a great job working hard to finish their IAR testing for the year! Please remember that next Thursday, 3/23, is an Early Dismissal day, with school ending at 11:55 for our Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences which will be student led!. Here is our bus document for your reference on that afternoon. We look forward to seeing everyone at Parent/Student/Teacher conferences. Please review the following pieces of information and feel free to contact the Main Office if you have any questions.
Parent Conferences: We are asking that all parents BRING their child to conferences next week. During this time, we will ask students to show and present on their Student Target Portfolios that they have been putting together since January. As a reminder, here is the website for parents to sign up for conferences.
Spring Break: There will be no school next Friday, 3/24, for District Institute Day. There will also be no school the following week, 3/27-3/31 as we observe our Spring Break. Please be advised that on Monday, 4/3, we will have a Late Start with school beginning at 10:00am. We hope our students are able to enjoy some restful and relaxing time off as we look to finish the year strong.
8th Grade Dance: Calling all parents that would like to help plan and set up this year’s 8th grade dance. The dance is scheduled for Tuesday, May 30th, for all of our graduating 8th grade students. If you would like to help, please contact Lisa Crenshaw at [email protected].
Rental Assistance: Anyone interested, and in need of rental assistance, please visit this link and complete the application before April 14th.
SMILE Dentist: The SMILE dentist is coming to the West Oak Campus on April 19th. Please complete the registration form and return to the school nurse if interested. Contact Julie Marchese at 847-388-2599 with any questions.

District 120 Referendum: Please review the following letter and flyer detailing the upcoming referendum of Mundelein High School District 120.
Boys Volleyball: Our next sports season is about one month away. Any boys interested in playing volleyball are invited to try out after school in our Main Gym on April 3rd and 4th. Here is a letter from the coaches that gives more information on what they will need, the times of their practices, and the dates and times of their games. Coach Enriquez and Coach Groshek hope to see a great turn out as they are excited to start the season soon.

2023 Mayor’s Cup Challenge: The annual Mayor’s Cup STEM Challenge is a great opportunity for Mundelein students to showcase their Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) skills, earn cash rewards, and have fun in the process! This will be held on April 16th and students are being asked to sign up with their math teachers. The deadline to sign up is March 20th. Here is the flier for more details.
Summer Learning: The District 76 Summer Learning Program is back! General Education and Dual Language Summer Learning will take place over one session and will be held June 12-June 30, Monday through Friday each week, from 8-11:30am. Here is the registration form if you are interested.
Mundelein Building Tours: Mundelein High School building visits are being offered throughout the upcoming spring. Please complete this form if you would like to schedule a time to learn about their building and what they have to offer students and families.
8th Grade Tributes: Attention 8th grade families, you have the opportunity to write your 8th grade student a tribute for our yearbook. This special message, along with a baby photo, will be published in the 22/23 yearbook. Take a look before your chance is gone! This opportunity goes through February or until space is full. Hola Estudiantes y familias de la escuela secundaria West Oak,
¡Tuvimos una semana increíble y exitosa! Nuestros programas de banda y coro dieron actuaciones increíbles en cada uno de sus eventos. ¡Nuestros estudiantes también hicieron un gran trabajo trabajando arduamente para terminar sus exámenes de IAR del año! Recuerde que el próximo jueves, 3/23, es un día de salida temprana, y la escuela terminará a las 11:55 para nuestras conferencias de padres, estudiantes y maestros, ¡que serán dirigidas por los estudiantes! Aquí está nuestro documento de autobús para su referencia en esa tarde. Esperamos verlos a todos en las conferencias de padres/estudiantes/maestros. Conferencias de padres:Estamos pidiendo que todos los padres TRAER su hijo a las conferencias la próxima semana. Vacaciones de primavera: No habrá clases el próximo viernes, 3/24, por el Día del Instituto del Distrito. Tampoco habrá clases la semana siguiente, 3/27-3/31 mientras observamos nuestras vacaciones de primavera. Voleibol de niños:Nuestra próxima temporada deportiva está a un mes de distancia. Todos los niños interesados en jugar voleibol están invitados a probar después de la escuela en nuestro gimnasio principal el 3 y 4 de abril. Aquí hay un carta de los entrenadores que da más información sobre lo que van a necesitar, los tiempos de sus prácticas, y las fechas y horarios de sus juegos. Desafío de la Copa del Alcalde 2023:¡El Desafío STEM anual de la Copa del Alcalde es una gran oportunidad para que los estudiantes de Mundelein muestren sus habilidades en Ciencias, Tecnología, Ingeniería y Matemáticas (STEM), ganen recompensas en efectivo y se diviertan en el proceso! Esto se llevará a cabo el 16 de abril y se les pide a los estudiantes que se registren con sus maestros de matemáticas. La fecha límite para inscribirse es el 20 de marzo.Aquí es el volante para más detalles.
Aprendizaje de verano: ¡Regresó el programa de aprendizaje de verano del Distrito 76! La educación general y el aprendizaje de verano en dos idiomas se llevarán a cabo en una sola sesión y se llevarán a cabo del 12 al 30 de junio, de lunes a viernes de cada semana, de 8 a 11:30 a. m.Aquí es el formulario de registro si usted está interesado.
