Dear Diamond Lake School (DLS) Families,
The 2023-2024 school year is quickly wrapping up, and we are continuing to celebrate our year with fun filled activities and more! DLS had a great week as we wrapped up our STAR Benchmark Testing and fully kicked off our ABC Countdown. This week we also had the opportunity to celebrate Administrative Assistants Day. Honoring Ms. Lupe Flores and Mr. Josh Zamora from the DLS front office, our staff and students came together to thank them for their hard work, endless service, and dedication to the community. We certainly could not do it without them. The cards made by our students were incredibly heartwarming!
On Friday, May 3rd, District 76 will be recognizing, honoring, and celebrating El Dia de los Niños (Day of the Child). El Dia de los Niños is celebrated annually in Mexico since 1925. Children are recognized as an important part of society and the day focuses on the importance of loving, accepting, and appreciating children. Josue Zamora and Sami Calderon of District 76 have worked hard to plan fun activities, bring in a mariachi band, and scheduled the Kona Shaved Ice Truck for the buildings. Click

On Tuesday, May 7th DLS will be the spotlight at our Board of Education (BOE) meeting. Each year, we provide the BOE with highlights of events and accomplishments that have taken place at DLS. Our focus continues to be how our building supports social emotional learning and how we create different experiences for our students to work together as a community versus in isolation as four separate grade levels. This year we will be performing a live episode of the Diamond Dish with a bit of a Saturday Night Live twist, "Live from DLS, it's Tuesday Night!" We will also be having a musical guest, stage crew, and security to help us deliver this incredible performance. We would like to cordially invite our DLS community to attend.
Mark your calendars! Tuesday, May 14th from 5:00-7:00 pm is our final Family Night for the year. In honor of Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we will be celebrating with various activities and foods. Be on the lookout next week for our RSVP form and our menu.
Our Community Cuddles winners for the month of April took their trip today in honor of Earth Day. The beautiful nature sites in Lake County led us to Edward L. Ryerson Conservation Area in Riverwoods. Gorgeous scenery, peaceful animal harmony, and spring flowers provided us the opportunity to observe, draw, and write about how we can save our planet. Congratulations JuanPablo Sainz, Quinn Kurzawski, Journee Butler, Alexis Pacho, Ava Schneider, Riley Mordel, Kevin Sotelo-Hernandez, Noel Mata, and Reece Fitzgerald. Let’s hear it for these sparkly diamonds!

Community Art Fair: Stevenson High School will be hosting their 44th Annual Consortium Art Festival. Work from students in D76 and our surrounding districts will have their special pieces on display. Please come and join us to admire the great work of our young artists.
DLS Innovation Center Book Return: Next week will be the final week in which students may check out books from the DLS Innovation Center. All school books are due back to DLS by Friday, May 3rd. Please be sure to check your child’s backpack and your home for any books your child may have. You are welcome to return the books to our front office or simply send them back with your child. We appreciate your help in getting our Innovation Center shelves restocked with the great books your children checked out.

¡El año escolar 2023-2024 está concluyendo rápidamente y continuamos celebrando nuestro año con actividades llenas de diversión y más! DLS tuvo una gran semana cuando concluyemos nuestras pruebas de referencia STAR y comenzamos por completo nuestra cuenta regresiva ABC. Esta semana también tuvimos la oportunidad de celebrar el Día del Asistente Administrativo. En honor a la Sra. Lupe Flores y al Sr. Josh Zamora de la oficina principal de DLS, nuestro personal y estudiantes se reunieron para agradecerles por su arduo trabajo, servicio interminable y dedicación a la comunidad. Ciertamente no podríamos hacerlo sin ellos. ¡Las tarjetas hechas por nuestros estudiantes fueron increíblemente conmovedoras!
El viernes 3 de mayo, el Distrito 76 reconocerá, honrará y celebrará El Día de los Niños. El Día de los Niños se celebra anualmente en México desde 1925. El martes 7 de mayo, DLS será el centro de atención en nuestra reunión de la Junta de Educación (BOE). Cada año, proporcionamos a la BOE los aspectos más destacados de los eventos y logros que han tenido lugar en DLS. Nuestro enfoque sigue siendo cómo nuestro edificio apoya el aprendizaje socioemocional y cómo creamos diferentes experiencias para que nuestros estudiantes trabajen juntos como una comunidad en lugar de estar aislados como cuatro niveles de grado separados. Este año presentaremos un episodio en vivo de Diamond Dish con un toque de Saturday Night Live: "¡En vivo desde DLS, es martes por la noche!" También contaremos con un invitado musical, equipo de escenario y seguridad para ayudarnos a realizar esta increíble actuación. Nos gustaría invitar cordialmente a nuestra comunidad DLS a asistir.

Nuestros ganadores de Community Cuddles del mes de abril hicieron su viaje hoy en honor al Día de la Tierra. Los hermosos sitios naturales del condado de Lake nos llevaron al Área de Conservación Edward L. Ryerson en Riverwoods. Hermosos paisajes, pacífica armonía animal y flores primaverales nos brindaron la oportunidad de observar, dibujar y escribir sobre cómo podemos salvar nuestro planeta.
