Dear Diamond Lake School (DLS) Families,
This is a gentle reminder regarding our morning drop-off procedures. We are currently experiencing a significant back-up of traffic down Diamond Lake Rd in the morning. We understand that families need to get through our carline in a timely manner, but the safety of our students is our top priority. We ask that all families please review THIS document of our arrival procedures. Our staff is outside each morning to assist families and bus drivers. We ask that families please remain in their vehicles, and we will help students safely enter the building. In addition, please remember that morning drop-off is scheduled 7:25-7:40 am. Arriving at school on time is incredibly important for both our students and staff. Constant tardiness makes it difficult for students to adhere to our morning routine and results in students missing their morning meeting which sets the tone for the day. If there is anything we can do to help with student arrival times, please let us know. We deeply appreciate your understanding.

D76 is excited to announce that all three of our schools, Diamond Lake School, West Oak Intermediate School and West Oak Middle School are embarking on the process of becoming HRS. By following the HRS framework, each school has a long-term strategic planning guide with certification levels that build upon one another. This extremely rigorous process helps ensure each school is consistently concentrating on effective areas of school operation. Schools are applying for certification for each of the levels below. We are excited to share that all D76 schools are Level 1 Certified! Each school is now pursuing Level 2 Certification.

In order to help us achieve Part of the Level 2 Certification we need your help to complete the survey that is provided below. Because all three schools are starting this process at the same time, parents with students in multiple school buildings will receive multiple copies of the same survey. We respectfully ask that parents complete the survey for each school, because each school is measured individually. Beginning January 30th, parents, students and teachers across Illinois will have an opportunity to participate in the eleventh annual statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey. This survey is designed to generate a detailed picture of the inner workings of your child’s school. As a parent/guardian, this opportunity will allow you to share your thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness in a survey about your child’s school.

Last Friday, January 26th, we hosted a special Playdate Night for students, compliments of our D76 PTO. With approximately 70 students attending, PreK-2nd Grade students came together for a pizza dinner and playstations setup throughout the building. This Monday, February 5th is a Late Start Day. School begins at 9:10 am on Late Start Days at DLS. Students are permitted into the building starting at 8:55 am. Click HERE for the Late Start bus route information. You will see a tab at the bottom of the spreadsheet labeled Late Start with all the bus route information. Breakfast is also served on Late Start Days.

Important Information
Valentine’s Day: DLS cannot wait to celebrate the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday on Wednesday, February 14th. We want to ensure that all our students have the opportunity to celebrate and engage in a special morning of friendship, love, and kindness. We will be having a building wide event with Celebration Stations from 8:00-9:15 am in each of our homerooms. K-2nd Grade teachers will be providing information regarding volunteer opportunities for this event.
Students will be assigned to a mixed group of Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade students and led by one of our homeroom teachers. We will have stations setup in each homeroom throughout the building and additional staff members will be working the stations as well. PreK classes will be celebrating with their individual classes. El D76 se complace en anunciar que nuestras tres escuelas, Diamond Lake School, West Oak Intermediate School y West Oak Middle School, se están embarcando en el proceso de convertirse en HRS. Debido a que las tres escuelas están iniciando este proceso al mismo tiempo, los padres con estudiantes en varios edificios escolares recibirán varias copias de la misma encuesta. Respetuosamente solicitamos que los padres completen la encuesta para cada escuela, porque cada escuela se mide individualmente. El pasado viernes, 26 de enero, organizamos una Noche de Juegos especial para estudiantes, cortesía de nuestro PTO del D76. Con la asistencia de aproximadamente 70 estudiantes, los estudiantes de preescolar a segundo grado se reunieron para una cena de pizza y se instalaron estaciones de juego en todo el edificio. Este lunes 5 de febrero es un día de inicio tardío. La escuela comienza a las 9:10 am los días de inicio tardío en DLS. Los estudiantes pueden ingresar al edificio a partir de las 8:55 am. Día de San Valentín: DLS no puede esperar a celebrar el próximo día festivo del Día de San Valentín el miércoles 14 de febrero. Queremos asegurarnos de que todos nuestros estudiantes tengan la oportunidad de celebrar y participar en una mañana especial de amistad, amor y bondad. Tendremos un evento en todo el edificio con estaciones de celebración de 8:00 a 9:15 am en cada uno de nuestros salones de clases. Los maestros de jardín de infantes a segundo grado brindarán información sobre oportunidades de voluntariado para este evento.
Los estudiantes serán asignados a un grupo mixto de estudiantes de jardín de infantes, 1er grado y 2do grado y serán dirigidos por uno de nuestros maestros de salón. Tendremos estaciones instaladas en cada salón de clases en todo el edificio y miembros adicionales del personal también trabajarán en las estaciones.
