Dear Diamond Lake School (DLS) Families,
Today you received email communication containing your child’s Trimester II report card. We encourage all families to review the report card with their children and discuss areas of strength and areas for improvement. Please remember that there may be markings indicating that a specific item on the report card has not yet been taught. With our curriculum and instruction map for each grade level, specific items within each subject are taught at specific times throughout the school year, and teachers will assess student performance at the time in which the item is taught. Please also be aware that students are expected to learn and grow throughout the school year. Levels of mastery of specific skills generally develop through our progressive teaching model and practices. If your child is also part of our English Learners (EL) program, students will be coming home with their printed EL report card today. If you have any questions about your child’s report card(s), please bring them with you to Parent-Teacher Conferences in March.
Parent-Teacher Conferences will take place on Thursday, March 21st and are one of the most important times throughout the school year. Teachers and families will have the opportunity to discuss student progress and work to set future goals to ensure continued success and growth. Similar to our Fall conferences, families will have the option of face-to-face conferencing here at DLS or virtual conferencing through Google Meet. Please keep an eye out for communication on Friday, March 1st from D76 regarding conference times. Also, please be aware that Thursday, March 21st is an 11:00 am Early Release for students and there is NO SCHOOL on Friday, March 22nd.
Spring Picture Day is quickly approaching! On Tuesday, March 5th, students will have the opportunity to snap a new photo for the 2023-2024 school year. If you are interested in ordering school pictures, there are two ways to order. If you prefer to pay by cash or check payable to Lifetouch, please complete the picture order form that your child came home with today. They will need to return the form with payment on Spring Picture Day. If you prefer to pay by credit or debit card, please order online at www.mylifetouch.com. Through the online ordering system, you will be asked to enter our Picture Day ID which is EVT9R69BX. You will also see this ID number printed on the order form. If you order online, your child DOES NOT need to return the order form to DLS. Whichever method of payment you choose, all orders must be submitted by Spring Picture Day. Lifetouch will return pictures to DLS for students to bring home shortly after they are taken. Please be aware there are no retakes for Spring pictures.
Congratulations to last week’s Community Cuddles winners; Kian Cariaga, Melanie Salgado, Evelyn Flores-Lara, Sarai Guzman, Eduardo Mata, Matis Bedolla, Lorraine Morris, and Gianna Garcia. Our Kids Care trip to Brookdale Senior Living Center was great! We hosted several rounds of BINGO and residents won art projects created by our diamonds. They were very appreciative of our students visiting and spreading kindness. If you were unable to attend last week’s 2nd Grade Music Concert, you missed quite the show! We want to send a sincere thank you to DLS Music Teacher, Mr. Kibbler, for his creativity, design, and programming for our students. This was the 2nd Grade class’ last concert at DLS. Hoy recibió una comunicación por correo electrónico que contiene la boleta de calificaciones del segundo trimestre de su hijo. Alentamos a todas las familias a revisar la boleta de calificaciones con sus hijos y discutir las áreas de fortaleza y áreas de mejora. Recuerde que puede haber marcas que indiquen que un elemento específico en la boleta de calificaciones aún no se ha enseñado. Con nuestro plan de estudios y mapa de instrucción para cada nivel de grado, elementos específicos dentro de cada materia se enseñan en momentos específicos durante el año escolar, y los maestros evaluarán el desempeño de los estudiantes en el momento en que se enseña el elemento. Tenga en cuenta también que se espera que los estudiantes aprendan y crezcan durante todo el año escolar. Los niveles de dominio de habilidades específicas generalmente se desarrollan a través de nuestro modelo y prácticas de enseñanza progresiva. Si su hijo también es parte de nuestro programa de Estudiantes de Inglés (EL), los estudiantes regresarán a casa con su boleta de calificaciones EL impresa hoy. Si tiene alguna pregunta sobre las boletas de calificaciones de su hijo, tráigalas a las conferencias de padres y maestros en marzo.
Las conferencias de padres y maestros se llevarán a cabo el jueves 21 de marzo y son uno de los momentos más importantes del año escolar. Al igual que en nuestras conferencias de otoño, las familias tendrán la opción de realizar conferencias cara a cara aquí en DLS o conferencias virtuales a través de Google Meet. Esté atento a las comunicaciones del viernes 1 de marzo desde el D76 sobre los horarios de las conferencias. ¡El Día de la Fotografía de Primavera se acerca rápidamente! El martes 5 de marzo, los estudiantes tendrán la oportunidad de tomar una nueva fotografía para el año escolar 2023-2024. Si está interesado en pedir fotografías escolares, hay dos formas de hacerlo. Si prefiere pagar en efectivo o con cheque a nombre de Lifetouch, complete el formulario de pedido de fotografías que su hijo trajo a casa hoy. Deberán devolver el formulario con el pago el día de la fotografía de primavera. Si prefiere pagar con tarjeta de crédito o débito, realice su pedido en línea en www.mylifetouch.com. A través del sistema de pedidos en línea, se le pedirá que ingrese nuestro ID del día de la foto, que es EVT9R69BX. También verá este número de identificación impreso en el formulario de pedido. Si realiza un pedido en línea, su hijo NO necesita devolver el formulario de pedido a DLS. Cualquiera que sea el método de pago que elija, todos los pedidos deben enviarse antes del Día de la fotografía de primavera. Lifetouch devolverá las fotografías a DLS para que los estudiantes las lleven a casa poco después de haberlas tomado. Tenga en cuenta que no se pueden repetir las fotografías de primavera.
