Dear Diamond Lake School (DLS) Families,
D76 is excited to announce that all three of our schools, Diamond Lake School, West Oak Intermediate School and West Oak Middle School are embarking on the process of becoming Marzano High Reliability Schools (HRS). By following the HRS framework, each school has a long-term strategic planning guide with certification levels that build upon one another. This extremely rigorous process helps ensure each school is consistently concentrating on effective areas of school operation. Schools are applying for certification for each of the levels below. We are excited to share that all D76 schools are Level 1 Certified! Each school is now pursuing Level 2 Certification.

In order to help us achieve Part of the Level 2 Certification we need your help to complete the survey that is provided below. Because all three schools are starting this process at the same time, parents with students in multiple school buildings will receive multiple copies of the same survey. We respectfully ask that parents complete the survey for each school, because each school is measured individually. It’s time for some extra fun at DLS! We’ve been relatively cooped up with the extremely chilly temperatures. Now that it has warmed up, let’s get together to play, learn, and celebrate! We have two excellent events coming up at DLS. The links below provide information and the Google Forms that we ask you to complete to RSVP. Your children also came home with a paper copy of the forms. You are welcome to use the paper copy, if you prefer. In using the paper copy, please be sure to send it back to school with your child.
We look forward to providing your children with these special play times and learning opportunities.
On Wednesday, we are celebrating our 100th Day of School K-2nd Grade! It is hard to believe that we will already be reaching the 100th Day mark, but time flies when you’re having so much fun! In honor of the 100th Day of School, we will be hosting various activities throughout the day. Math Interventionist, Ms. Kris Nordlund, will be visiting classrooms to engage in Math games that explore the number 100. Princess Polly and I will be visiting each homeroom for a read aloud of the great book 100th Day of Worries by Margery Cuyler. The story is dedicated to teaching students how to problem solve and how different support systems within our schools and at home can lessen anxiety. Homeroom teachers will also be hosting special activities within their classrooms. We look forward to a great day of celebration! Happy 100th Day of School, DLS!
BIG NEWS! Princess Polly officially has her own Instagram account. There has been some experimentation with the account, but now it is officially up and running. If you would like to follow, please do! Her Instagram handle is @princesspollyd76. The account will accept followers, but does not follow anyone back in return. The purpose is to highlight the great things happening in our building with Polly to support students while also highlighting moments that matter.

Valentine’s Day: DLS cannot wait to celebrate the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday on Wednesday, February 14th. We want to ensure that all our students have the opportunity to celebrate and engage in a special morning of friendship, love, and kindness. We will be having a building wide event with Celebration Stations from 8:00-9:15 am in each of our homerooms. K-2nd Grade teachers will be providing information regarding volunteer opportunities for this event.
Students will be assigned to a mixed group of Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade students and led by one of our homeroom teachers. We will have stations setup in each homeroom throughout the building and additional staff members will be working the stations as well. PreK classes will be celebrating with their individual classes. El Distrito Escolar Diamond Lake 76 se complace en anunciar que la Escuela Diamond Lake, la Escuela Intermedia West Oak y la Escuela Secundaria West Oak se están embarcando en el proceso de convertirse en Escuelas de Alta Confiabilidad de Marzano (HRS). Al seguir el marco HRS, cada escuela tiene una guía de planificación estratégica a largo plazo con niveles de certificación que se complementan entre sí. Este proceso extremadamente riguroso ayuda a garantizar que cada escuela se concentre constantemente en áreas efectivas de operación escolar. Parte de la Certificación del Nivel 2 incluirá encuestas enviadas a los padres de la comunidad. Debido a que las tres escuelas están comenzando este proceso al mismo tiempo, los padres con estudiantes en varios edificios escolares recibirán varias copias de la misma encuesta. Pedimos respetuosamente que los padres completen la encuesta para cada escuela, porque cada escuela se mide individualmente. ¡Es hora de divertirse más en DLS! Hemos estado relativamente encerrados con temperaturas extremadamente frías. Ahora que hace calor, ¡reunámonos para jugar, aprender y celebrar! En honor al día número 100 de clases, organizaremos varias actividades durante el día. La intervencionista de matemáticas, la Sra. Día de San Valentín:DLS no puede esperar a celebrar el próximo día festivo del Día de San Valentín el miércoles 14 de febrero. Queremos asegurarnos de que todos nuestros estudiantes tengan la oportunidad de celebrar y participar en una mañana especial de amistad, amor y bondad. Tendremos un evento en todo el edificio con estaciones de celebración de 8:00 a 9:15 am en cada uno de nuestros salones de clases. Los maestros de jardín de infantes a segundo grado brindarán información sobre oportunidades de voluntariado para este evento.
Los estudiantes serán asignados a un grupo mixto de estudiantes de jardín de infantes, 1er grado y 2do grado y serán dirigidos por uno de nuestros maestros de salón. Tendremos estaciones instaladas en cada salón de clases en todo el edificio y miembros adicionales del personal también trabajarán en las estaciones.
