Dear Diamond Lake School (DLS) Families,
Trimester I report cards were sent via email today for students in Kindergarten through 2nd Grade. This applies to students in both our General Education and Dual Language classrooms. Progress reports for students in our Little Diamonds Early Learning program have been posted to individual Seesaw accounts. Please be sure to login to your account to view their progress.
We encourage all families to look at the report card or the progress report with their children and discuss areas of strength and areas for improvement. With our curriculum and instructional map for each grade level, specific items within each subject are taught at specific times throughout the school year and teachers will assess student performance at the time in which the item is taught. Please be aware that students are expected to learn and grow throughout the school year. Levels of mastery of specific skills generally develop through our progressive teaching model and practices. Students are not expected to be showing mastery and top level performance in all areas within the first trimester. Teachers are happy to talk you through the report card and the grading process. If you have any questions about your child’s report card, please bring it with you to Parent Teacher Conferences.
If you have not signed up for a Parent Teacher Conference time yet, please do! Times are filling up quickly and teachers are eager to discuss your child’s progress with you. Parent Teacher Conferences will be offered both face-to-face and via Google Meet. For more information about how to sign-up for a conference time with your child’s teacher, click HERE. Please also remember that Monday, November 20th is an 11:00 am Early Release Day for students.
Each year during Parent Teacher Conferences, we also host a Scholastic Book Fair. Our Library will turn into a great place to purchase grade level appropriate books in both English and Spanish along with reading accessories. Students and teachers will also have the opportunity to preview the materials next week and create a potential wish list of materials. Check out our cool flyer! Click HERE.
Students received their school pictures last week! If you are pleased with your child’s picture, the package of photos they brought home today is yours to keep. You will also notice there are directions to ordering additional photos, if so desired. If you are not pleased with your child's picture, we will be having Picture Retake Day at DLS on Thursday, December 7th. Students are required to bring back the package of photos that they brought home last week on Thursday, December 7th in order to have their picture retaken. If your child was absent on Picture Day or they are new to our school, they will also have the opportunity to have their picture taken on Thursday, December 7th.
Our Veterans Day concert was a special, heartwarming moment at DLS. Our students sang with pride, welcomed our veterans, and sent a wonderful message of gratitude for the courage and bravery of the armed forces. A special edition of the Diamond Dish, including a recording of our concert, will be released next week. We would also like to send a special thank you to our Music Teacher Mr. Spencer Kibbler. His organization of the program and teaching our students these songs was incredibly impressive. We appreciate Mr. Kibbler’s dedication to our students and love for both teaching the joys of music.

Las boletas de calificaciones del primer trimestre se enviaron hoy por correo electrónico para los estudiantes desde Kindergarten hasta segundo grado. Esto se aplica a los estudiantes tanto en nuestras aulas de Educación General como en las de Lenguaje Dual. Los informes de progreso de los estudiantes de nuestro programa Little Diamonds Early Learning se han publicado en cuentas individuales de Seesaw. Cada año, durante las conferencias de padres y maestros, también organizamos una feria del libro Scholastic. ¡Los estudiantes recibieron sus fotografías escolares la semana pasada! Si está satisfecho con la fotografía de su hijo, podrá conservar el paquete de fotografías que trajo a casa hoy. También notará que hay instrucciones para solicitar fotografías adicionales, si así lo desea. Si no está satisfecho con la fotografía de su hijo, tendremos el Día de Retoma de Fotografías en DLS el jueves 7 de diciembre. Se requiere que los estudiantes traigan el paquete de fotografías que trajeron a casa la semana pasada el jueves 7 de diciembre para poder volver a tomarles la fotografía. Si su hijo estuvo ausente el día de la fotografía o es nuevo en nuestra escuela, también tendrá la oportunidad de tomarse una fotografía el jueves 7 de diciembre.
Nuestro concierto del Día de los Veteranos fue un momento especial y conmovedor en DLS. Nuestros estudiantes cantaron con orgullo, dieron la bienvenida a nuestros veteranos y enviaron un maravilloso mensaje de gratitud por el coraje y la valentía de las fuerzas armadas. La próxima semana se lanzará una edición especial del Diamond Dish, que incluye una grabación de nuestro concierto. También nos gustaría enviar un agradecimiento especial a nuestro profesor de música, el Sr. Spencer Kibbler. Su organización del programa y la enseñanza de estas canciones a nuestros estudiantes fue increíblemente impresionante. Apreciamos la dedicación del Sr. Kibbler hacia nuestros estudiantes y el amor por ambos enseñar los placeres de la música.
