Dear Diamond Lake School (DLS) Families,
Please don’t forget, Spring Picture Day is Tuesday! Students will have the opportunity to snap a new photo for the 2023-2024 school year. If you are interested in ordering school pictures, there are two ways to order. If you prefer to pay by cash or check payable to Lifetouch, please complete the picture order form that your child brought home last week. They will need to return the form with payment on Spring Picture Day. If you prefer to pay by credit or debit card, please order online at www.mylifetouch.com. Through the online ordering system, you will be asked to enter our Picture Day ID which is EVT9R69BX. You will also see this ID number printed on the order form. If you order online, your child DOES NOT need to return the order form to DLS. Whichever method of payment you choose, all orders must be submitted by Spring Picture Day. Lifetouch will return pictures to DLS for students to bring home shortly after they are taken. Please be aware there are no retakes for Spring pictures.
Communication regarding signing up for Parent Teacher Conference (PTC) times on Thursday, March 21st was sent to all families TODAY. Teachers and families will have the opportunity to discuss student progress and work to set future goals to ensure continued success and growth. Similar to our Fall conferences, families will have the option of face-to-face conferencing here at DLS or virtually through Google Meet. Conference times fill up very quickly. I encourage all families to sign up for a PTC as soon as possible. Please be sure to check your SPAM or Junk Folder if you do not see the communication in your email inbox. Please also be aware that Thursday, March 21st is an 11:00 am Early Release for students and there is NO SCHOOL on Friday, March 22nd.
Kindergarten Orientation has been rescheduled! We look forward to welcoming families with incoming Kindergartners on Wednesday, April 10th 6:00-7:00 pm. If your child will be 5 years old by September 1st, 2024, we invite you to attend this informational session provided by the DLS Kindergarten Team. During this orientation, families will have the opportunity to pre-register their child for Kindergarten, learn more about our Dual Language program, and ask any questions you may have. The meeting will take place in the DLS Sparkle Center. If you are unable to attend, we will also be streaming the meeting live through our website and later sharing a recorded copy of the presentation.
Each year, school districts throughout the state of Illinois participate in the 5Essentials Survey of Learning Conditions: Organizing Schools for Improvement. Administered by Chicago Impact through the University of Chicago and sponsored by the Illinois State Board of Education, the 5Essentials survey collects data measuring 5 specific indicators that positively impact success in schools: Effective Leaders, Collaborative Teachers, Involved Families, Supportive Environments, and Ambitious Instruction. In order for data to be considered valid, at least 20% of families within a school must participate. The survey closes Friday, March 29th, and as of today, only about 16% of our families have completed the survey. If you have not completed the 5Essentials Survey, click HERE to access it. Monday, March 4th is a Late Start day. School begins at 9:10 am on Late Start Days at DLS. Students are permitted into the building starting at 8:55 am. Breakfast is also served on Late Start Days.

¡No lo olvides, el día de las fotografías de primavera es el martes! Los estudiantes tendrán la oportunidad de tomar una nueva fotografía para el año escolar 2023-2024. Si está interesado en pedir fotografías escolares, hay dos formas de hacerlo. Si prefiere pagar en efectivo o con cheque a nombre de Lifetouch, complete el formulario de pedido de fotografías que su hijo trajo a casa la semana pasada. Deberán devolver el formulario con el pago el día de la fotografía de primavera. Si prefiere pagar con tarjeta de crédito o débito, haga su pedido en línea en www.mylifetouch.com. A través del sistema de pedidos en línea, se le pedirá que ingrese nuestro ID del día de la foto, que es EVT9R69BX. También verá este número de identificación impreso en el formulario de pedido. Si realiza un pedido en línea, su hijo NO deberá devolver el formulario de pedido a DLS. Cualquiera que sea el método de pago que elija, todos los pedidos deben enviarse antes del Día de la fotografía de primavera. El lunes 4 de marzo es un día de inicio tardío. La escuela comienza a las 9:10 am los días de inicio tardío en DLS. Los estudiantes pueden ingresar al edificio a partir de las 8:55 am. Verá una pestaña en la parte inferior de la hoja de cálculo denominada Inicio tardío con toda la información de la ruta del autobús. El desayuno también se sirve los días de entrada tardía.
