Dear Diamond Lake School (DLS) Families,
The week of April 22nd we will start our final benchmark cycle of the STAR Assessment. The STAR Assessment is a district wide assessment tool that we use to measure student growth K-8th Grade in English Language Arts and Mathematics as well as in Spanish for students enrolled in our Dual Language program. Through the use of this assessment, we are able to track student progress from the Fall to the Winter to the Spring. From DLS to West Oak Intermediate School to West Oak Middle School, we also use this assessment to track students’ overall academic progress during their entire educational experience in District 76. By assessing student performance from the very start of a student’s enrollment with us, we are able to identify key elements in which students thrive and areas for further growth and development.
Individual STAR score sheets will be sent home at the end of the school year depicting your child’s academic growth. It is a very helpful tool to use to determine what type of academic practice or activities you may want your child to engage in over the summer in an effort to avoid regression. Next week Monday, April 15th through Thursday, April 18th, we will be having special spirit days to motivate students, reduce test anxiety, and help us reach for the top of our STAR progress! We look forward to our students putting forth their best efforts and showing us how much they have grown. Click
HERE to view our STAR Spirit Days. Believe it or not, one week from today will be “A Day” for the ABC Countdown to the last day of school. Yes, that’s right. On Friday, April 19th, there will only be 26 school days left.
THIS is our dress up calendar to close out the year. We encourage all students to show their school spirit and participate. Time sure does fly when you’re having fun!
As we are nearing the end of the 2023-2024 school year, it is time to start wrapping things up while also looking ahead to the 2024-2025 school year. The week of April 22nd will be the final week in which students may check out books from the DLS Innovation Center. All school books are due back to DLS by Friday, May 3rd. Please be sure to check your child’s backpack and your home for any books your child may have. You are welcome to return the books to our front office or simply send them back with your child. We appreciate your help in getting our Innovation Center shelves restocked with the great books your children checked out.
Mundelein High School will be hosting their All Area Art Exhibition and Stevenson High School will be hosting their 44th Annual Consortium Art Festival. Work from students in D76 and our surrounding districts will have their special pieces on display. Please come and join us to admire the great work of our young artists.

Summer Exploration Camp: Summer Exploration Camp registration will be closing on Friday, April 19th. Summer Exploration Camp is open to all students entering Kindergarten through 8th grade. The Camp runs Monday through Friday from June 3rd to June 28th at Diamond Lake School. The times are 8:00am to 11:30am. All families that
sign-up before the deadline will have a spot for summer camp. Incoming Kindergarten families will be asked to complete the registration process prior to starting Summer Exploration Camp.

Campamento de exploración de verano: La inscripción al Campamento de Exploración de Verano se cerrará el viernes 19 de abril. El campamento de exploración de verano está abierto a todos los estudiantes que ingresan a kindergarten hasta el octavo grado. El campamento se llevará a cabo de lunes a viernes del 3 al 28 de junio en la escuela Diamond Lake. El horario es de 8:00 am a 11:30 am. Todas las familias que se
inscriban antes de la fecha límite tendrán una plaza para el campamento de verano. A las familias entrantes a kindergarten se les pedirá que completen el proceso de inscripción antes de comenzar el Campamento de exploración de verano.
