District Update for Remote and In Person Learning
Last night you received a communication from the District providing a timeline of how we will go forward with learning. You can read that communication here. Below is information specific to West Oak Intermediate School :
1.4 School Resumes, Distance Learning Resumes with current schedule.
1.18 No School (Martin Luther King Day)
1.19 No School (Remote Planning Day)
1.20 School Resumes New Distance Learning Schedule
Why a new schedule?
The new schedule allows for consistent instruction throughout the entire school day
This schedule is able to be followed whether or not a student is in person or remote
If we were to have to switch between any of the formats (Remote, In Person, or Hybrid) throughout the year, the schedule will not have to change.
The new schedule will be released to all families in January, prior to 1.20.2021
WOIS Coffee With The Principal
Please join Mr. Preble for a virtual Coffee with the Principal on Tuesday, 1.19 at 8:30am. Mr. Preble will discuss the new schedule taking effect on Wednesday, 1.20.2021 as well as other updates specific to WOIS remote and in person learning.
Winter STAR Assessment Dates
We will conduct our STAR Winter Benchmark Assessment next week. Your child’s teacher will communicate exact days and times for the Reading and Math assessments. Not all students will test at the same time in order for teachers to facilitate the assessment in a remote setting. During testing times, if your child is not taking the assessment, they will be working on asynchronous assignments.

SEL Committee Updates
Diamond Lake School District’s Social-Emotional Committee is continuing with its December theme of bullying prevention. This month they are working to educate our students on what is bullying, what are the effects of bullying, what to do to prevent it, and how to respond when it does happen. They would also like to give parents resources on ways to be proactive about addressing bullying before incidents occur and to also give resources when it does happen. Lunch Service
District 76 is providing a no cost lunch service for students. You will need to order online on our Food Service webpage linked here. Curbside pick-up is from 11:00am - 1:00pm on Tuesday and Friday at the West Oak Campus.

¿Por qué hay un nuevo horario?
El nuevo horario permite una instrucción constante durante todo el día escolar.
Este horario es creado para poder seguir las clases en persona o remotamente.
Si tuviéramos que cambiar entre cualquiera de los formatos( Remoto, En Persona, o Híbrido.) a lo largo del año, el horario no tendrá que cambiar.
El nuevo horario se dará a conocer a todas las familias en Enero, antes del 1.20.2021

SEL Committee Updates
El Comité de Aprendizaje Socioemocional del Distrito Escolar Diamond Lake continúa con su tema de diciembre de prevención de bullying.
