Diamond Lake District 76

Extended Closure and Family Communication

Dear Families and Staff,

I am writing to update you that today, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker announced that remote (distance) learning in Illinois will be extended through April 30 in order to slow down the spread of COVID-19.

During this time, schools will remain closed, but D76’s commitment to excellence and learning will continue for all students through the next Phase of Distance Learning Opportunities (DLO) and continue with our food distribution program.

While it is not ideal, we want to assure you that our teachers are fully engaged and committed to take on this new challenge.  Teachers spent today planning, preparing and meeting “virtually” to push forward with our DLO in order to engage and connect with students during this unprecedented time. All DLO are found on our website.

During the COVID-19 driven school closures, the District Leadership Team has identified Four Priorities to guide our work

  • Priority One: Make sure children have access to food/needed resources
  • Priority Two: Account for the extended safety, health, and welfare of our students and staff
  • Priority Three: Communicate Clearly
  • Priority Four: Provide Distance Learning Opportunities (DLO)

I know this is not the school year that any of us imagined, but I want to thank you for your continued patience, understanding and confidence as we have dealt with this situation together. I extend my heartfelt wishes that all of your families remain safe, well and healthy.

Bhavna Sharma-Lewis Ph.D
