Hello Diamond Lake School Families,
When you think of parent involvement, do you think of moms and dads volunteering in classrooms? That is one way to help-but research shows that supporting your child’s education at home is even more important. Look at your child’s completed work and talk with him or her about what is happening at school. Ask if work was sent home to do and if not, reading at home for a minimum of twenty minutes per day makes a significant difference. Asking open ended questions such as “What is the coolest thing that happened today?” or “Pretend that you are the teacher-how would you describe the day?” are great ways to begin conversations with your child that help you to stay in touch with what is happening. Involved parents are GREAT parents!

Hola Familias de la Escuela Diamond Lake,
Cuando piensas en la participación de los padres, ¿piensas en las madres y los padres que se ofrecen como voluntarios en las aulas? Esa es una forma de ayudar, pero la investigación muestra que apoyar la educación de su hijo en el hogar es aún más importante. Mire el trabajo completado de su hijo y hable con él o ella sobre lo que está sucediendo en la escuela. Pregunte si el trabajo fue enviado a casa para hacer y si no, leer en casa por un mínimo de veinte minutos por día hace una diferencia significativa. Hacer preguntas abiertas como "¿Qué es lo mejor que pasó hoy?" o "Finge que eres el maestro, ¿cómo describirías el día?" son excelentes maneras de comenzar conversaciones con su hijo que lo ayudan a mantenerse en contacto con lo que está sucediendo. ¡Los padres involucrados son GRANDES padres!
