8th Grade Student Material Pickup Directions

Dear Friends and Families of West Oak Middle Schoo

The purpose of this communication is to give information regarding student pickup and drop-off of belongings for 8th Grade Students.  We will be offering curbside pick-up of student belongings.  Please note that the information and timelines are different for 8th grade than for 6th and 7th grade.

For 8th Grade Students:

Pick-up Dates:  June 8th, 9th and 10th

All three days will follow the same schedule.

  • 1:00-5:00-all students may pick up from 1:00-3:00pm

Pick-Up information:

  • Families should turn around at the halfway point of the parking lot

    • First stop at Door 9 where we will have a table.  Chromebooks and band instruments will be collected at this location.  ONLY 8TH GRADE STUDENTS ARE RETURNING CHROMEBOOKS, CASES, CHARGERS, AND BAND INSTRUMENTS!!!

    • Second stop is at the WOMS main entrance for item pickup

  • Families will remain in their cars.  Cars will be approached by a WOMS staff member. This staff member will ask for the student(s) name and radio the building for their belongings.  A Post-it note with the name will be applied to the passenger side window. Any items students are returning will be collected at this time.

    • Families should place in a bag labeled with the student’s name any items other than Chromebooks that need to be returned.  Such items may include Library Books, Classroom books, Classroom Novels, Chromebooks with cases and chargers (8TH GRADE ONLY), and Band Instruments (8TH GRADE ONLY).  Families are asked to bring these items in a bag labeled with the student’s name and grade.

  • Personal belongings will be brought out of the school and delivered to vehicles.  Vehicles may be asked to pull forward closer to the east end of the parking lot (towards the flagpole), making room for other cars.

  • Staff will bring out all of the student’s belongings from their locker and any class projects and materials.  P.E. will provide a 2nd bag with the P.E. clothes.

    • 8th grade students will be given their diplomas and class t-shirts at this time

    • If available, purchased yearbooks will be distributed to students at this time.

  • Once the process is completed, families should exit the parking lot.

We have chosen this method of material return as we believe this is the best way to ensure the safety and health of our school community. The entire WOMS staff thanks you for your patience and understanding during this process. If you are unable to pick-up/drop-off your child(ren)’s belongings at the designated date/time or on the make-up day, please contact Peter Cunningham at [email protected]  or Chris Willeford at [email protected].

Please see the next page for a map to help navigate the pickup process.
