Fairhaven Families,

Last year, school districts throughout the state of Illinois began collecting information about kindergarten students’ school readiness connected to language and literacy, math, social and emotional learning, and approaches to learning.  This assessment, referred to as KIDS (Kindergarten Individual Development Survey) was implemented in District 76 in the fall of the 2017 school year and we will participate again this year. We recently received general feedback about how our students did on the assessment last year.  When we compare our results with students throughout the state, we have a strength in math and need to focus on teaching our students skills related to how they approach learning.

We will be collecting information about our kindergarten students’ learning very soon by observing them while they are playing, working, lining up, and during other parts of the regular school day.  The children typically don’t notice they are being observed and teachers get to use the valuable information from the observations to place each child’s abilities on a learning pathway. Familias de Fairhaven,

El año pasado, los distritos escolares de todo el estado de Illinois comenzaron a recopilar información sobre la preparación escolar de los estudiantes de kínder relacionada con el lenguaje y la lectoescritura, las matemáticas, el aprendizaje social y emocional y los enfoques de aprendizaje. Esta evaluación, conocida como KIDS (Encuesta de Desarrollo Individual de Kindergarten) se implementó en el Distrito 76 en el otoño del año escolar 2017 y participaremos de nuevo este año. Recientemente recibimos comentarios generales sobre cómo nuestros estudiantes hicieron en la evaluación el año pasado. Cuando comparamos nuestros resultados con los estudiantes de todo el estado, tenemos una solidez en matemáticas y necesitamos enfocarnos en enseñar a nuestros alumnos las habilidades relacionadas en la forma en que se enfocan al aprendizaje.

Recopilaremos información sobre el aprendizaje de nuestros alumnos de kínder muy pronto al observarlos mientras juegan, trabajan, hacen fila y durante otras partes del día escolar regular.
