District Technology Safety and Accountability

Technology safety is an utmost priority for our district. It has come to our attention that there may be concerns with student Chromebook devices and what students are able to access and the history of where students have researched. Please know that only users with with a District 76 Google Domain can sign on to the district Chromebooks.

Once signed on, every Chromebook device is enrolled in Go-Guardian which provides content filtering 24 hours a day/7days a week whether the device is in/out of school. Go-Guardian tracks and maintains a historic log of Internet sites, applications used, all activity on each Chromebook and each student ID. A history is maintained on all website attempted, blocked or not blocked. No user can clear this log/history.

Because of educational software such as the Math Software used at West Oak, students are required to empty cache/ cached Internet history to ensure the software performs correctly. This action only clears the local device log, NOT the log which is maintained by Go-Guardian which is never cleared, we have no storage limitations with Go-Guardian.

Building principals and the district technology staff have access to print student user logs if parents would like copies of their students activity. Please contact your building principal should you have any questions/concerns.
