Diamond Lake District 76

May 3rd: Diamond Lake School Weekly Update

Dear Diamond Lake School (DLS) Families,

May 6th-10th is National Teacher Appreciation Week!  One of my most favorite weeks of the school year, National Teacher Appreciation Week is a special time to say thank you, recognize the exemplary service that our teachers provide, and reflect on how they impacted students since we started school back in August.  DLS is a powerhouse staff committed to achieving excellence, supporting and motivating students, building relationships, developing lessons with a growth mindset, and ensuring that our school is a safe haven for learning.  Through their commitment to our community, their D76 dedication, and their love for children, DLS provides students with new and innovative learning opportunities.  Being the PreK-2nd Grade school for the district, we pride ourselves on being where students’ educational journeys begin.  On behalf of D76 administration and DLS students, we want to thank our teachers for everything they do, day in and day out.  Thank YOU for being YOU!  Next week our teachers will be showered with all sorts of treats, lunches, thank you notes, and appreciation goodies.  Thank you to our PTO for arranging these special events!

Next week we will also be celebrating National School Nurse Day!  Wednesday, May 8th we will recognize our very own, Ms. Alyssa King.  We thank Ms. King for her endless support for our students.  Always making them feel better and feel special, our students love her hugs, her kindness, and her magical tricks of curing illness and, as our students say, fixing owies.

Tuesday, May 7th at 7:00 pm is the big night for DLS at the Board of Education (BOE) meeting.  We will be the spotlight at our Board of Education (BOE) meeting.  We have put together an incredible live episode of the Diamond Dish along with a video highlighting the amazing learning opportunities our students have participated in.  From classroom celebrations to the day Princess Polly walked through our front door to the engaging lessons teachers provided the BOE will be touched by our heartfelt presentation. We would like to cordially invite our DLS community to attend.

Tuesday, May 14th from 5:00-7:00 pm is our final Family Night for the year.  In honor of Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we will be celebrating with various activities.  Unfortunately, we had a cancellation with our food vendor.  We WILL NOT be serving food at this event and there is no need to RSVP.  Come one, come all for the activities!  Click HERE to view the flyer.

Mrs. Parduhn is currently working to get all of our library books checked back in, but in order to do so we need students to return all the materials they have checked out.  Please be sure to check your child’s backpack and your home for any DLS books.  You are welcome to return the books to our front office or simply send them back with your child.  We appreciate your help in getting our library shelves restocked with the great books your children checked out.

Monday, May 6th is our final Late Start day of the school year.  School begins at 9:10 am on Late Start Days at DLS.  Students are permitted into the building starting at 8:55 am.  Click HERE for the Late Start bus route information.  You will see a tab at the bottom of the spreadsheet labeled Late Start with all the bus route information.  Breakfast is also served on Late Start Days.
