Families of West Oak Intermediate School, 

We are fast approaching the end of the 2023, 2024 school year!  The ABC countdown actually begins next week Friday if you can believe it!  Our 5th graders have been busy with their ISA (Illinois Science Assessment) and have been focused and prepared. In other news, a team of students from District 76 will be participating in the Mayor’s cup in Mundelein this weekend! Please be on the lookout for opportunities to be involved in our end of the year events, the volunteer form is on the bottom of this newsletter in the “important and permanent quick links” section.

“Fireman Tony” Events (Repeat Reminder): On April 24th, Fireman Tony will be attending WOIS to do a safety presentation for the 3rd and 5th graders, and on April 29th, he will be coming to WOIS to do an outdoor presentation with our 4th grade students.  

REPEAT: College and Career Wednesdays:  We encourage students to wear clothing from their favorite Universities, High Schools, or Trade Schools each Wednesday.  Thank you as always for the continued support and care for your students, we are seeing growth each and every day!  

Important Reminder: Summer Exploration: We already have over 200 registrations!  WOW!  This summer is going to be a blast, but will close if we fill up, so if you are still interested,  HERE is the link to sign up.  Also, Innovation has released their summer flier as well, for more information click the folder link HERE

Fly Up Days: At District 76 we believe that helping students acclimate and be prepared for changes in their lives is very important.  Fly up days are coming, these days help our students in D76 to meet their teachers, become familiar with their surroundings, and celebrate their accomplishments.  The 5th grade fly up day to West Oak Middle School will take place on May 9th.  The 2nd grade fly up day to West Oak Intermediate School will happen on May 14th.  Please reach out if you have any questions. 

Eclipse Glasses: We had so much fun observing and learning about the Solar Eclipse on April 8th.  As a form of community outreach, Ms. Hernandez is going to send the glasses to students in other countries.  If you still have your glasses and would like to donate them, please send them to the school with your student where they can drop them off in the front office.

Thank you for coming out to the Tropical Smoothie Cafe fundraiser on 4/10!   We are looking for volunteers for our upcoming Ice Cream Day. Please sign up here if you are interested in helping out that day!

Important Information (permanent quick links):

Food Service:  Each month our breakfast and lunch menus will be provided in our Family Communications as well as posted on our website.  Click HERE for the breakfast menu and HERE for the lunch menu.

Medication Authorization Form:  If your child needs to take medication of any kind throughout the school day, in response to allergies, or under specific circumstances, families are required to complete the D76 Medical Authorization form.  Portions of the form must be completed by your child’s physician.  Click HERE to access the form.  In addition to the completed form, families must provide the medication in its original container.  Printed copies of the form are also available in our front office. 

Innovation Learning: 

Families looking for before and/or after school programming Innovation Learning provides these services up to five days a week. Here are the flyers in English/Spanish for more information. 

Need Groceries?: 

 Summer Family Market distributions use a contactless drive-thru model with pre-packed groceries. No registration, ID, or documentation is needed. Food is distributed on a first-come first-served basis, while supplies last.

Nos estamos acercando rápidamente al final del año escolar 2023, 2024! De hecho, la cuenta de ABC comienza el viernes de la semana que viene, ¡si puedes creerlo! Nuestros estudiantes de 5to grado han estado ocupados con su ISA (Evaluación de Ciencias de Illinois) y han sido enfocados y preparados. Eventos de “Bombero Tony”(recordatorio repetidò): El 24 de abril, el bombero Tony asistirá a WOIS para hacer una presentación de seguridad para los estudiantes de 3er y 5to grado, y el 29 de abril, vendrá a WOIS para hacer una presentación al aire libre con nuestros estudiantes de 4to grado

REPETIDO Miércoles de universidad y carrera: Animamos a los estudiantes a usar ropa de sus universidades favoritas, escuelas secundarias o escuelas de comercio cada miércoles. Gracias como siempre por el continuo apoyo y cuidado de sus estudiantes, estamos viendo crecimiento cada día!

Recordatorio importante: Exploración de verano: ¡Ya tenemos más de 200 inscripciones! ¡GUAU! Este verano va a ser una maravilla, pero se cerrará si nos llenamos, así que si todavía estás interesado, AQUÍ está el enlace para inscribirte. Días de volar : En el Distrito 76 creemos que es muy importante ayudar a los estudiantes a aclimatarse y estar preparados para los cambios en sus vidas. Los días de volar se acercan, estos días ayudan a nuestros estudiantes en D76 a conocer a sus maestros, familiarizarse con su ambiente  y celebrar sus logros. El día de vuelo de 5to grado a la secundaria tendrá lugar el 9 de mayo. El día de volar de 2 grado a la Escuela West Oak Intermedia se llevará a cabo el 14 de mayo. Por favor póngase en contacto con nosotros si tiene alguna pregunta.

Gafas Eclipse: Nos divertimos mucho observando y aprendiendo sobre el Eclipse Solar el 8 de abril. Como una forma de alcance comunitario, la Sra. Hernández va a enviar las gafas a estudiantes de otros países. Si todavía tiene sus gafas y le gustaría donarlas, por favor envíelas a la escuela con su estudiante donde pueden dejarlas en la oficina principal.

Formulario de autorización de medicamentos:Si su hijo necesita tomar medicamentos de cualquier tipo durante el día escolar, en respuesta a alergias o en circunstancias específicas, las familias deben completar el formulario de Autorización médica D76.
