Dual Language/Two Way Immersion: Self-Contained (Full-Time Transitional Bilingual Education)

Diamond Lake School District Language Programs are designed to promote bi-literacy and multiculturalism in both English and Spanish. The Two-Way Dual Language/Transitional Bilingual Education (TBE) model serves to provide instruction in both English and Spanish to English Learners and English-Only Learners.  Students will receive 50% of their instruction in English and 50% of their instruction in Spanish in Grades K- 5.

Students in our Transitional Program of Instruction (TPI) will receive language services designed to support English language proficiency. Students in the TPI program will be receiving one-way services designed to teach solely English proficiency.

Diamond Lake School District Language Programs are designed to promote biliteracy and multiculturalism in both English and Spanish. The Two-Way Dual Language/Transitional Bilingual Education (TBE) model serves to provide instruction in both English and Spanish to English Learners and English-Only Learners. The classes count toward graduation requirements.

Instructional Goals: To meet academic achievement standards for grade promotion and to become bilingual and biliterate.

Program Components: Your son/daughter will receive instruction in the following areas:

  • Reading and writing in English

  • Reading and writing in Spanish
